Need help uninstalling my system!!!

This isn't installed on a Taco obviously, its installed on a 2007 Impala that I'm selling and the buyer has no need for the system so I'm taking it out. I need to know whether to just cut the wires from the amp or if there is another way of disconnecting the wires, as you can tell I have no idea of what I'm doing but need it out tonight as I'm dropping it off in Los Angeles tomorrow morning on my way to pick a new Taco in Pacoima. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated

 

what ever is in front of the amp needs to be removed....is that a seat? anyway, once that is out of the way, it looks like there is a trim ring/piece around it. Maybe its a cover, but if its off you should be able to access the wires to remove them.

Worse case just snip them off. You probably wont re-use the wiring anyway.

 

the amp is attached to the sub box (i bought it like that), Im selling the Amp to my friend who needs one, If I were to disconnect the wires from the amp but leave the wires hooked up in the car would it cause any problems since some cables are hooked up to the car battery?, since I'm not gonna put a sound system into either of my trucks I don't need the wires anymore

 

It's a V-power amp, so on the sides, near the corners, there are screws. They will allow you to remove the trim pieces, and have access to the wiring, to remove it safely. My main concern with this is, you have a hot lead from the battery, in the back of the vehicle, not covered or connected to anything. What you should do is disconnect it from the battery post before attempting any disconnection or cutting, to eliminate the possibility of a short and funky lights show.

 

it can cause a fire, you should remove from the battery at least..

if you do just cut at least cap the ends so they cant ground out..

There should be a screw orbolt securing the wire in, that looks like a pretty ghetto installation so i wouldnt be surprised if their is no fusing or anything like that..

Yea I had a couple of guys install it for a few bucks, It hasn't given me any problems since it was installed. Ok the red wire is the one running from the battery to the trunk, does the end look right? How do I go about disconnecting it?

 

Just loosen up the nut and pull the loose wire out but is there a fuse block on that thick shiny red wire because if there is remove the fuse an undo the amp and still tape up the wires in the trunk because the thinner wire is gonna be live wit the car on

 

Loosen that bolt and pull it out. That wire is your power wire you should have a fuse within a foot of where it connects to the power source if not the the guy's whom installed it don't know what they are doing but that looks like it is coming out of the fuse box so it may be sharing a fuse. Either way it seems to be a pretty hack job and I wouldn't let them touch my truck. Ever. Again. Disconnect that wire then pull the trim ring off and loosen the screws on the amp and disconnect all the wires. You'll also notice on your amp a smaller wire that is a remote turn on lead you need to tape that up or you'll blow a fuse/burn the car to the ground it will be right next to the positive and negative post on the amp.

 

Looks like the cable with just the bare end being held down by the bolt. Should just simply loosen the bolt, pull the wire out, and retighten the bolt down. I would then tie off or cut the wire down, so it doesn't get caught up in any of the moving parts in the engine bay.

 

looks like he just fed stripped wire into the bolt,

undo the bolt a bit (loosen) and it should come out, after that the wire is dead and has no current so its safe to either stay in place, or remove / pull through..

The ground you dont have to worry about as it will also be dead at that point.. just another useless wire..

But definately get that out first, and if it comes down to it if you know thats the amp wire cut it as close as you can to where its bolted into that fuse block..

 

If you decide to snip them make sure you wrap the ends of the wire with electrical tape so you don't cause a fire with live wires.

 

Tried to disconnect it and electrocuted myself twice, just a little buzz but im not trying to push my luck on a third try, is there anybody in the SD or LA area that would want to attempt to disconnect them or does anybody know a place that open, Im dropping off the car at around 3am in Pacoima so it would need it done by then, YES I said 3am in the morning tomorrow as in a a few hours. PM me if you can do it or know a guy or place that can because if not im gonna have to take a $150 loss

 

Ok lets do a step by step
1. Key out of ignition motor and everything else off.

2. Disconnect the negative wire from the battery post this will be a black wire and on the battery you will see a - above or below the terminal post.

3. Unscrew the bolt that has the wire in it, by the fuse box in the second set of pics you posted, and pull the wire out then tighten the bolt back down.

4. Take the trim panel screws out and put them in a safe place.

5. Loosen the screws that are holding the wires in place and remove wires.

6. Unscrew amp from sub box, replace and screw in trim piece.

7. Cover all exposed wiring with either electrical tape or crimp covers.

8. Profit.

Edit: Are you selling the car at 3am? That's really sketchy. It's 2am here on the east coast so it's around 10 there correct?

Well yea its kinda weird but im actually trading the car for a 1st gen Taco and the guy is going to Vegas for the weekend and he isnt gonna be back till Tuesday plus I already had a trip to LA planned for Saturday, right now its around 11:30, wont actually be getting there till around 4:30 5 am

 

Just make sure there is no power in any of those wires.
