did the wiper mod today. Used a wiper switch out of a 2009 camry. Works great, just a tip for the future for people.

The writeup doesnt mention that beyond the two large clips on the cover there are tiny little stems that are on the bottom and fit into holes on the top piece. They bend beyond easily.

My cover now has a slight gap and doesnt sit as flush as it did before I opened it. No one else would probably notice but its real obvious to me. Maybe if its only a few bucks in the future I may replace the covers with brand new ones if I dont get use to it.

2009 4WD Reg cab Taco. Keepin it simple.
So far I've added an Advance folding bed cover and since removed it. Gave it to my son in Maine, he has an 05 2wd. GT perfect fit seat covers. Weathertech floor mats and window vent visors. Waag center brush/grill guard. Hose clamp tailgate mod. Turned off the seat belt chime. Added Ultra-Gauge. Trailer hitch. Softopper. Replaced sun visors with slide out style. Toyota bed extender. Had Firestone Destinations and now Michelin LTX AT2 in stock size. More mods to come; Fog lights, locking storage in bed, intermittent wipers. Now looking for Radio/HU upgrade. and maybe a lift way down the road.
What year Tacoma do you have. The tiny little stems? metal ? Plastic ? will they pull apart if you go slow or are they going to get trashed no matter what ?

    Thanks.

Not the originator of the post you referenced, but I can clarify. He has the same model 2Gen that you have. They are indeed plastic, molded into the cover. They are only 1/16" long and used to align the two halves. Not a huge obstacle, just was mentioned to say be careful removing the housing after you remove the screws. Once you're in there, it will become clear what they are. Not much to worry about, now that you know they're there.

    Happy Upgrading!

Yeah, there is a HUGE market for them on eBay, I saw one go for $800! LoL

And the main reason for the post (besides a lame attempt to crack a joke) is to welcome you to the Disease, err... Forum. :D

Would help if you'd quote the message you're referring to.
The post above yours refers to fog lights, but there's dozens of mods in the thread.

I posted this idea for a cheap mirror mount in another thread when I was told this thread existed & that I should add it to this thread for those who, like me, enjoy free or inexpensive answers to common problems. More to come....

Can't get the seat belt chime to go away on my 2012 TRD sport. Tried it like 8 times, no go. That sucks, hate that thing. Just did get the door chime to go off. Why no seat belt chime off? WTF!!!

You need to have the dealer turn it off... the old trick won't work on 11-12's...

AARRRGH, have read through 59 pages and I thought for sure that I saw some had done this on 2011's and '12's... Well at least the door chime is off, right. Thanks MUDFISH, how's the weather up there, have a friend up in Redfield, nice territory up there.

    UPDATE

Went to the dealer, and he told me "no can't do that with the Tacoma". So very politely I suggested to him that we try, as I had read on line that the dealer could turn the chime off once into the computer. He said let's find out. Pulled the truck around and had it done in 10 min., no waiting, wham bam. Still beeps for five seconds when ignition is first turned on, but nothing after that.

It's likely that if you ever disconnect and re-connect your battery, the chime will reset to original state. But no worry - be happy - get one of these > http://www.jcwhitney.com/performance-tool-memory-saver/p3040818.jcwx?filterid=u0j1

Well, it didn't, or wont work on my 2012 TRD sport. Tried it so many times with little adjustments to see if I could be doing it wrong or bad timing. It never went from miles on the odo reading to b-off, or b-on, never. Just reset to trip A. So while it may have worked on your 2011, I can say that it doesn't work on this 2012. I rewrote the instructions twice to make sure I had the sequence right, still no go.

turn truck ignition on, cycle to odo, turn truck off. Turn on, no brake, no seat belt, press and hold reset button for at least 12 sec, and fasten seat belt. Odo should go from miles to b-on take finger off and push again for b-off. This is just from memory from 2 days ago
