    I know, another tire question:rolleyes:

before every burns me about the search function, I am aware of it and I've been using it to look for a while:D

Is anyone running toyo m/t's or bfg km2's in a 285/75/17? If so can you please provide me an actual measurement on your truck? I am very weary of the manufactures numbers, never seem to be very accurate. My TTC's were supposed to be 33" tall, but measure out at barely over 32". I am geared 4:56 and want to go a little taller tire to avoid 3000+ rpms on the freeway. Around town and off road it kicks butt, freeway it just sucks fuel!

I wouldn't mind a true measurement of any 285/70/17 either, just for reference.

    Thanks in advance!

It depends on the tire itself, there can be small discrepancies depending on the tread

Yeah it does, but maybe someone measured when installed? Or just let me know the measurement and then state "tires are 80%" or whatever it may be.

I'm planning on running km2"s in this size....BFG is actually real close to what there stated size is my 255-80-17 where right on what they said they were...I can tell u this though Toyo m/t's run big and there heavy... Amazing tires but I'll stick with km2's

I'm only throwing this up here because the place needs to order them, and of course they want a non refundable deposit of 20% which is fine. I just thought maybe someone could chime in and give me as close to a real measurement as possible. I can get the bfgs for 1100.00 and I've heard great things about them in sand and rock, that's about 90% of my off roading terrain. Also heard they are good on the road, hope that's true.

I've run cooper stt, mtr's,kumho kl71's,and many other popular tires and the km2's are everybit as good on the street as they are off road... There a perfect all around tire IMO ...and they last..... You won't be disappointed ... The toyo's are great but much heavier an worse on mpg's....I will bet the 285-75-17 will measure right at 34in ....are you trimmed and have your cab mount chopped?

Thanks for the info, I have run toyos before and they were bigger than they stated. I didnt know if this was always the case or not, I ran 37x13.50r17 and they were about 37 1/4. I'm afraid the toyos would be more than the stated 34.1", which is only about 1/2 inch smaller than most 35's. The km2 in a 35 is actually 34.6, buddy has them and we measured. If the km2 is actually around 33.5 that would be great, but if it's 33.1 that's not much increase from my ttc's. As for the toyos they are great tires, but the weight is a bit extreme on our ifs. Not too mention the decreased mpg. I'm already lucky to get 14 on the freeway, around town I probably get 17-18.

I have the arb front bumper and cab mount is chopped. 34" would be good, I have 305/65/17 ttc claws and the only rub on the rear flares, actually ripped the passenger side rear off a couple months ago;) BUt the 305's on a 9" wide wheel makes them pretty damn wide, close to 13" of tread. I don't rub at all in the front, so I'm thinking 1"taller and 1.5" narrower of a tire would work out?? I guess I'll just have to trim up more I not, I mean it's only a 2011, Toyota won't work on it anyways do to the extreme modifications lol.

You should be fine buddy ... I think you'll be very happy with this sizes and when BFG goes by standard sizes 33,35,37 they are actually smaller but there metric measurements 265,285,305 are usually very close.. A friend of mine runs 285-70-17 an there actual measurement is a touch under 33, like 32.9..... An 285-75-17 are 1in taller so u will be right around 34in.... I will be running this size by end of summer I wish they werent so much money..oh well gotta pay to play

Thanks, And you're right it isn't cheap. I found discount tire to be the best price around on the BFG. I was quoted 1259 out the door, installed. Most online stores want 315-340 a tire plus shipping! So km2s will be my next purchase, so as I get back to the states I will be having them installed. Again, thanks for the help.

Well I'm on the fence again! My buddy just called me and he measured out a set of the km2's in 285/75/17 and they were 32 7/8" tall. He said when they jacked the truck up and remeasured it was 33 1/8" tall. May have to go with the toyos, Les Schwab says they are as near dead on as possible and will be about 34.1x11.6. They are 8 pounds heavier per tire and an extra 400.00!

I asked him the same thing, he said they are 285/75/17 but he said they have about 8000 miles on them. I really don't think the 8000 miles would take 3/4" off the tire. I am going to find a shop that has a set and measure for myself. On a side note, my brother found a set of the toyo's in stock at les schwab. The toyo's measured 34 3/16" I will get to the bottom of this... I really want to go with the bfg so I am going to research all I can.

my 255-80-17 km2's measure 33.25x10.25 roughly.....i have 25-30k on them and there still over 50% good usable tread...i drive hard on and offroad...im in my truck 7 days a week....not arguing with ur buddy i just dont understand how my friends 285-70-17 is the same as ur buddys 285-75-17....i measured my friends set myself so i know it was accurate...did ur buddy maybe measure to a lower lug on the sidewall? my friends tires were at 35psi on level ground i laid a strait edge on top of tire and measured up from ground to strait edge....its easy to measure actual height incorrectly and a half or 3/4in is easy to misinterpret ....keep me posted in your search as i plan on running these also...i read in a bfg article somewhere they made this size specifically to fill the void between the regular 285 and 315....?????????????????? very confused i am

I am also confused. I doubt he used a straight edge as he should have! I think these bfg's actually measure out to 34 based on some further research. I just hate to shell out 1300 and find out they're not 34. Tread depot has a good deal on both the bfg and toyo's about the same price. I'm pretty stuck on the bfg, like the more aggressive look of the bfg. If you happen to run into a set to measure let me know and I'll definitely do the same.

do you actually have them? or are you going off manufacturer stats? we know what bfg says they are but are curious what they actually measure on truck aired up in driveway..

I wouldn't think so either, but I have seen it many times with many tires. My ttc's are well under the manufacturers claim, as were my swampers. But I think Hard2kill is right about the metric tires being extremely close to the claim on the website.

Thanks for chiming in, I'm going to order them. If they're not 33.7 or bigger I'll just sell them:)
