Shaky Taco Problems

So I'm yet another person posting on shaking at 60 to 70mph. I've actually done a lot of work trying to get it to stop but all failed.

Balance and rotated the tires
had alignments
changed wheels
new tires
checked all driveline parts driveshaft etc.
u joints look good
transmission bolts are tight

My only guess is that I need new inner axles. I also thought it might just be a good idea to rebuild the front hubs .

if u guys have any ideas id appreciate it.

 

Have you checked your wheel bearings, tie rods and ball joints. How many miles are on the truck?

 

Its got right at 180,000 the driver side has a slightly bent outer tie rod and i'm orderin new ball joints. I haven't checked my wheel bearings though

 

Well you could have messed up your inner and outter tie rod, by bending your outter tie rod. You should see if your inners are bad as well. I got moog parts from Amazon dirt cheep, and you can do the inners yourself, just have to have a huge adjustible wrench.

Do you have any humming sounds wile you drive?(sign of bad wheel bearing) If you jack up the front of the truck and spin the wheel, if your bearing is bad, you will hear a grinding noise, and if everything is tight up front(ball joints, tire rods, ect..) hold your hands at the 12 and 6, and 9 and 3 positions and see if your tire wiggles.

 

I may go ahead and replace all my tie rods entirely just to check it off the list. I do have a giant adjustable wrench so i should be good on that one.

as far as the humming its hard to tell over the tire noise but it does feel like i got a grinding feeling on my floorboard when i get up to higher speeds so i may check out them bearings. I'm gonna see how my tires move when i jack it up. I'll keep things posted as I go.

 

check the play from your steering rack itself. May want new poly bushings. I had a shit ton of play after 15k miles on the bushings that came with my new rack. Put new bushings on it and it helped a lot

 

I had a lot of shake at 60mph+ until after I changed out my Rack and pinion because it was worn out...along with new outer rod ends and poly bushings....

Rides like a caddy now
