I agree mostly, but I ain't butt hurt. I still love my truck. It's my 2nd 2nd gen and I prefer the midsize. It is quite expensive but I can rest assured that I have a quality truck that will probably last a long time. It rides like a truck(duh), but a pretty smooth one. The TRD offroad rides rougher, which is the one that always seems to get reviewed. The non TRD's are even smoother. It's all good.

Really! Dodge Dakota, Chevy Colorado, etc. not good enough to be called "overrated"!

He's probably one of those douches who buys a big V8 truck, lifts it and then drag races it in town with his super sweet glass pack exhaust blaring.

Sounded like he was giving his opinion that a bigger truck is a better value and obviously fitted him better.

Is the price a little high for what we get....probably but with sites like this they're not selling less tacomas any time soon!

Who bought their truck for great MPG, smooth highway ride, rear seat leg room, and technology leaps? I hate my girls VW Toureg for the "advanced" dash controls. I love the simple controls on my truck.
I bought my truck for dependability, performance on rough roads, capable 4 wheel drive abilities, resale value, and of course Looks!

And Who here payed 35k? Sorry if you did, I got a new TRD sport for 27k......near 35k now thanks to TW.

Compared to other trucks I've owned, (two chevy's and a ford) the Tacoma rides awesome. Probably one of the softest rides I've had in a truck. The chevy's were especially bad, those things would jar you to the point of getting car sick. The rear seats are plenty big and everybody who rides in mine never complains of cramping. It has more room than the full size quad cab chevy I had. I had no problem figuring out the bed rail system, I found it a nive addition cuz' I could move the tie downs wherever I wanted. Seems like whoever did the review had already made his mind up before reviewing the truck. Plus Tacoma's are the best selling in it's class for a reason. Because anybody who buys one usually sticks with them. Why do you think ford cancelled the ranger? And why nissan is copying thier style? They can't keep up with the Tacoma. The only thing I would improve on is power.

Sure you spend $35k for the truck but compare that to the price of a brand new Canyon and include all the repair costs after 10 years to both prices and I'm sure you'll spend more in the end if you buy a Canyon!

I will note the the man doing the review makes the statement about the better discount on the full size truck over a Tacoma...

being an industry analyst...he should have an understanding why that is so.

it's called comparable used truck values. because domestic trucks lose value quicker than the Tacoma...the manufactures must offer deep discounts to lure new buyers into the showroom.

    surprised he didn't know that.

LOL. I like his comment about the rough ride. It's because of people like him that you guy in the US only get 3 leaf pack.

Agreed. How about that 2.5L intercooled turbo diesel in the Hilux?

It will probably be 3-4 years before a new gen tacoma comes out. All Toyota's attention in the US market is directed on revamping the Tundra for 2014 and that is their priority right now in the truck market. They need to fix up their entry in the fullsize segment, which is not real competitive at this point. Some of the things they do with the Tundra might filter down to the tacoma--perhaps styling and engine/drivetrain technology upgrades. I don't think they will put the Tundra 4.6L engine in the tacoma, hwoever. Too much segment overlap and buyer confusion. They will likely put out a revamped 6-8 speed V6 in the Tacoma, whenever that happens

I thought it was a very fair review. The backseat room I 100% agree with especially. Anyone over 5'2" who rides in my backseat complains about leg room.

He gives the Tacoma props for its capability and dependability. He just makes the point that for what it costs, it doesn't quite offer the value that Toyota used to be known for. As someone else said, that's why the midsize truck market is dying. If a Double Cab 4x4 could get 25 mpg, it might be enough of a difference to justify not getting a full-size.

Meh. His entire video could be about a Jeep Wrangler, and the commentary would be equally as valid. They're not having trouble selling those, either. I didn't pay $35k for my Tacoma DC 4x4 V6. In fact, I barely paid $25K. Still, I bought it for its reliability, good looks and capability. I DON'T want a full size truck, especially a cheap F150 or Silverado. And you can't get a comparable Tundra for the price of a Tacoma, no matter what he says.

My wife is 5'5" and sometimes when she misbehaves I make her ride in the back with the kids. No leg room complaints. If you're taller you get to sit shotgun, common courtesy. Kids and midgets in the back, that's what I always say.
