I got started when my boys were young. I used the argument that it was better for the kids to learn gun safety from me then one of their friends that swiped one of their dad's guns.
Worked very well, my boys are now 28 and 30 and are responsible gun owners.

You may be correct, but I was explained it as if the shotgun came from the factory without a stock then it was $5 and if it had a stock Then it was the $200 sbs tax stamp

We they marked him 5150, and took his guns away.

18 U.S.C., § 921(A)(5) and 27 CFR § 478.11 - The term “Shotgun” means a weapon designed or redesigned, made or remade, and intended to be fired from the shoulder, and designed or redesigned and made or remade to use the energy of the explosive in a fixed shotgun shell to fire through a smooth bore either a number of ball shot or a single projectile for each single pull of the trigger.

This is the ATFs definition of a shotgun. Shotguns that come equipped with a pistol grip technically aren't shotguns but also aren't AOWs because the have a barrel length greater than 18 inches. So you are correct about the stamps.

This was a pretty big issue last year when they were trying to define a pistol grip shotgun.

I've read this a few times. I wanted to get a Remington 870 mcs. I just don't want to do all that paperwork for a modular combat shotgun....even though its pretty epic

Just go buy a H&R pardner protector for 179.00. It is a copy of the Remington 870. Save some money and blow it on hookers and beer. You are married so you will need both.

What good is that little piece of crap? Unless you are doing door breaching, in which case, go for it. I think you need a stock because believe it or not shotguns still need to be aimed. Every accessory for an 870 will fit on the Pardner pump except the barrel.

it comes with 3 barrels. a stock. a pistol grip, rails. it can be fully disabled (barrels and all) on the fly, no huge amorers kit, with one tool. and attached to the bottom of your AR. That is bad ass. Have you ever done any urban fighting? clear some rooms with a long ass barrell. just try it. imagine . U are cutting the pie (diagram included)images_12db1d8985c6729a3dfa2edf1665e709d3435baf.jpg and you do not have that much room to do the diagram. and your barrel sticks out into the room. all someone has to do is slap your barrel down, or push it awy. he is no longer in your sights. Now, with a shorter barrell at close range you have more control. Hence the go from M16 A2 to M4......

at close range you dont need a stock. its a shotgun. point an squeez the trigger. thats all you need in a building. do you need a stock for a pistol? and thats why befor the m4, the used the m9. same with tunnel rats in nam. Pistol, sawn of shotgun.....no stock. i dont plan on using a shotgun for distance anyway..POint and shoot

and yes....i lol when i was reading my post.....
