Obama Scraps 'Global War on Terror' for 'Overseas Contingency Operation'

Obama has reportedly ordered an end to use of the phrase "Global War on Terror," a label adopted by the Bush administration shortly after the September 11 attacks.

What a kick square in the nuts:annoyed::annoyed: to all of us Americans, Especially those of us that are Veterans, and gave two years of our lives in Afganistan/Iraq. (I thought it was for the GWOT, not Overseas Contingency Plan. What is he going to do next,
Take away our Global War On Terrorism Medals, and re issue OCP's) ( I know there NOT merely a figure of speech)

Then what, Terrorist = Misunderstood Victim ?

I am sure the soliders/marines deployed currently are f--ing thrilled!
Sorry for the bold print thats just how it copied and pasted.

Why? What would you call it? Its not like " The war on terror" was an awesome name anyway. I'm not sure why this really matters. Most people call the war in Iraq.... the war in Iraq. Or the War in Afghanistan. I seldom hear people say: " We are out fighting in the war on terror!"

It's so the Gov can take away your benifit's as a veteran by not calling it what it is a war.

Yes of course, it must be the worst case scenario and Obama has an agenda to take away Veteran benefits. I don't agree with that because that would be the last thing a politician who wants to get re-elected would do. The reasons are more for Diplomatic reasons and also because the term: " War on Terror" is way to vague and non-specific.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
The name has nothing to do with the work that is being done in Iraq or Afghan...its not a global war on terror. We're fighting in Iraq and Afghan...not the entire world...and on the flip of that, the entire world isnt partaking in this war, so there's nothing "global" about it. GWOT puts on too much of the fearmongering that the last administration was using to try to control peoples feelings about it. And yes I have my GWOT and my AFESR w/ gold border. I could care less if I need to swap out a ribbon, but they will not back track a ribbon to change it.
