Needed: TRD seat measurements please!

Hi everyone,

So after dealing with chronic knee pain ever since purchasing my 2005 SR5 Tacoma, I finally have it narrowed down to the stock SR5 seat. I test drove 8 different cars this past weekend (audi, vw, ford, mercedes, and lexus) to experiment with different seats, and have found that cars with a seat that can be adjusted vertically (lowest setting worked best for me), had a seating cushion length that was a couple of inches longer than my SR5 seat, and seats that had more side bolster on the bottom seat cushion eliminated my knee pain!

Now, I really do want to keep my Tacoma, so I'm going to try anything I can do within reason, to fix this issue and keep the truck.

That being said, I was hoping someone with a TRD seat (or any aftermarket like Corbeau CR1, Sparco, Recaro, etc.) could help me with some measurements.

I've taken some pictures below of how I'm measuring the seats.

So for you TRD seat guys, do the side bolsters for your seats look like they are "taller" than the ones I have in my picture above? Do you feel that the TRD seats keep your legs in place well (e.g., going around a corner, do you feel like your butt/lower legs are firmly held in the seat)?

Also, anyone with a 2005-2011 know if the length of the 2012 seats are the same as the 2005-2011? I only ask since there was an interior "refresh" for 2012 and I'm hoping they didn't change the seats at all

I really appreciate the input! If the TRD seats help alleviate my knee pain then I'll be able to keep my truck!

My 2011 measured the same as the 2012. Well, my seats has wet okole so it may be +- 0.5 in. As for the side bolsters I couldn't tell. I can say the seats are pretty comfortable.

You can pretend to be looking for a new truck and go sit in one at the dealer. That will help you decide a lot better.

side bolsters look taller. and i do feel like the "grip" better.

 

I went from a 06 SR5 to a 12 sport TRD and don't think I really felt and difference. If any thing the 06 seat was a little softer and gripped my a$$ better? Or maybe it was the seat cover? Had the OEM SR5 covers. Best covers ever made. I wish they still did them for the TRD's.

I was really hoping that the TRD seats would better support my right leg and help keep it aligned straight with the gas/brake pedal, instead of the SR5 seats which have next to no side bolstering which allows me to be lazy and let my leg sit cocked to the side (which I think puts too much torque on my joint and causes it to start aching). On small trips I can make a conscious effort to keep it aligned, but on longer trips my mind tends to drift and forget to consciously keep my leg in a specific position. Before I know it, it's aching and too late to fix
