standard daytime running lamps are one reason I would not by the canyon. I dont want everyone to know I am sitting in the parking lot listening to the radio with the a/c blowing.

I take that video as a compliment. GM is paying that much attention and trying to use gimmicks to win over Toyota buyers.

P.S. I grew up in Pittsburgh in the '70's when all of the auto makers started using Japanese steel. Where were the bailouts for the steel industry then? Our government let my hometown crumble. F*** Detroit! They can crumble, too!

One time, at a flooring store i saw an old man loading up his 2010 Canyon with tile and by the time his truck was loaded his leaf springs were literally bent backwards!! That same day I too was loaded up with what appeared to be the same amount of tile as his and the Tacoma was almost just as high.. maybe like 2 or three inches lowerbut the leaf springs WERE NOT BENT BACKWARDS!! Canyon is a P.O.S.

I used to own a 2008 Colorado LS. It was a great truck while I had it. But, after owning a Tacoma, I'll stick with the Tacoma.

I refuse to read all 16 pages of this thread but I would like to say: I really like GMC fullsize pickups. Were I wanting a fullsize, that's probably the way I'd go. I've always been a big Ford fan..owned many Mustangs in the past and still "probably" my favorite car. Resale value on Fords as well as "problems" on my past new cars have made me leary. I say all this because I love my Tacoma, but it's clear that Toyota is behind the power curve on the Tacoma when it comes to small user convenience items. Power seats? MPG data? At times I feel I'm in 2000 when I sit in my Tacoma, which is a shame because there are other things (storage in the rear of my DC) that you won't find with other trucks.

All this being said, I've driven a Canyon. I'm sorry, there is no comparison between the two. My wife, who is not biased, 100% agrees. Toyota's drive nice, feel well built, and best I can tell, they are. The Canyon drove and felt like a cheap piece of plastic. Seems like it's a truck body thrown on a car drivetrain...might as well be.

Who the Hell would want a friggin bench seat especially for 4wheelin? They neglect to tell you how much the Onstar POS is after the 6 month trial, the GMC's look like crap, no re-sale value to speak of compared to the Taco's, if we wanted a V8 we would've bought a gas guzzling full size Tundra anyhow. I would've liked the leather option and heated mirrors would be nice but I just switched back to Toyota after 15 years of full sized Ford and will never go back.

GM bought the Onstar system years ago so I guess it's more about trying to sell people on that then any thing else must have cost them a bundle. Guess they need it to find their trucks when they break down.

I own a GMC Yukon. When I want a comfy highway ride... I take the yukon. Otherwise, daily driving the taco wins out.

GM has always had build quality problems with the interior. It's evident in just about everything they make. It has gotten better with the newer trucks. Mines an 06, "New body style", the current is called the NNBS... derp. What is cool is that they offer the 5.3 v8 in the canyon. I wish the taco had a small aluminum block v8 option. That 5.3 in the canyon is an ironblock with aluminum heads, and it's also flex fuel compatible.

That said Fuck a canyon, it is the ugliest truck out of all the midsize trucks out there.

I remember when I wasas bringing back my GM at the end of my lease, and when I wanted atrck, he kept ying to put me in a two wheel drive because the four wheel drive was out of my price range. "Why the hell do you want a four wheel drive?". "Because the two wheel drive doesn't even look like a truck...it looks like an El Camino on steroids."

Another thing, and maybe it's just me, but everytime I see a commercial saying their producr is better than someone elses, I go check out the other one. I always figure the other one is really good if they're comparing themselves to them.

So all those reviews complain that Tacoma truck is a TRUCK. Duh I am sure there is a market for cars with beds. I however would like to own a smaller Truck as (Rides rough on road so it can handle places with no roads, have no gadgets to brake, can go pretty much anywhere, have great clearance, better fuel MPG then full size, can tow non contractor items, starts everyday, never needs towing and service dept is strange unknown place)
