Well, my brother just left after a marathon wrenching weekend. Friday 5pm-2am, Saturday 11am - 2 pm, Sunday 11pm - 1:30am. Everything came out good except one bolt where the exhaust header bolts up. Job would have been much easier with a lift and some instructions that didn't completely mislead you in a few key sections.

So an idea of what was required to do the job. Remove strut torsion bar, air filter, air box, starter, catalytics, H pipe, exhaust headers, steering shaft, rear engine support bar, motor mount brackets, motor mounts, jack the engine. Once all that was done, put the new headers in. Instructions say put headers in from the bottom. Tried, removed transmission mount for more clearance in jacking the motor. Nope. Attempted removing Lower Control Arm, failed. Tried jacking the motor toward passenger, nope. Decide to try from the top. Removed altenator and the bitch went right in. Then trying to work around all those freaking tubes to get the gasket and header mounted was hell. Passenger side went easier getting it in. Just had to remove one of the bolts for the lower control arm. Got all the bolts started and the instructions say to put the motor mount bracket and the starter back in from the back. Tried quite a few ways and then said screw it, try from the front. Pulled the swaybar off and was able to get them in. Of course we put the motor mount bracket in first and couldn't get the starter past, so had to pull it back out to get the starter through. Then rebolt up everything that we had undone previously.

After that, everything came back together allright, but cross threaded a bolt on the passenger side. It has meat on it, so not to concerned there. He also has a loose motor mount on the passenger side as well. We were able to tighten it up a bit, but need a crows foot wrench to get it all the way and he will do that tomorrow at work.

I can officially say I hate long tube header installs on Ford Mustangs. He also put in a X pipe to replace the H pipe that is factory. He applied a new tune for it and it came up clean with no CEL.

Okay, what's estimated time it will be done? I don't think mom likes me using her gas even though it's getting over 400 miles on a tank...
EDIT: and I'm getting closer to getting a ticket in this car. It seems to have a real skinny pedal.
