Amigos...I am new to 2Gen Tacomas and bought a manual 6 spd used. Learning from this website that there are problems from some owners.

I get a mild grinding going into third gear unless I double clutch or really hesitate before shifting. Not bad enough for dealer to condemn the parts I fear. Changed out the transmission and transfer fluid to synthetic. Any Other Advice?

Switching into 4wd....there is a distinct clunk in the transfer case. It goes in....and out....but makes noise doing it. Common?

Clutch also makes some audible noise going in and out. Not a problem yet....how long before it becomes one?

What is the TSB dealing with clutch I read about on this site.....anyone familiar?

I know these questions have been posed before. Indulge a new Tacobrother.

For the grind, try a mix of redline shockproof and motul 75w90 transmission fluid. It's very expensive (total investment of about 100 bucks) but it makes transmissions shift like buttah. Worked wonders in my STI and I'm going to use the same in my 5spd taco.

The clunk isn't the transfer case. It's the ADD engaging in the front differential. It's not a bad thing.

On the clutch I've read you can grease up the shift fork ball. Hop under the truck take the boot of the shifter fork, and see if you can clean out the pivot point with some brake clean and grease it up a bit.

To avoid getting a "clunk" noise when switching from 4WD back into 2WD take your foot off the gas so there's no load on the driveline.
