Yah. Especially since it was retaliation (which is a no-no in the workplace).

If that's all she could do I was like "Whatever". She was good behind the desk, but her on car skills were lacking.

In one county EMS service I worked for our uniforms were identical to sheriff's department uniforms, down to the badge. The only difference was if you looked closely at our badges and shoulder patches they said "EMS" instead of "Sheriff's Department." To add to the confusion, many of the Deputies were EMTs and wore an EMT patch. Add an EMS tool belt and we got mistaken for deputies all the time. In some ways it wasn't such a bad thing; instant recognition as one of the authorities at a scene is desirable in most cases. The biggest hassle was that the pin-on badge would sometimes get caught on things when I was crawling under vehicles to extricate patients, but so would my tool belt.

The paramedic course I attended devoted considerable time in training us to keep our cool under stressful situations and those trainees who could not do so were released from the course. There is no excuse for a paramedic to "loose it" either at a scene or in a hospital or station setting.

    Edit:

If you receive a questionable medical order, fall back on your written protocols and state that you are doing so.

I did, but after she told me twice to give a drug that was contraindicated I pretty much dismissed anything else that came out of her mouth for a few days after that incident.

So I stopped by the ambulance garage for info on becoming a paramedic. They said they no longer do ride alongs, which they both hated. They really want me to go complain to the organization. but said that since they saw me at work as a patroller. I would be well suited for the job. They showed me the ambulance, which let me say doesn't make me want to go do the job since here they are all vanbulances and I am 6'3" and about 250lb. Everything else seems pretty sweet though. thinking I would want to go all the way to CCP eventually.

Haha, vanbulances...we have a few of those at work, but they are usually BLS trucks. I have worked in one once and I am only 5'10" and I hated the damn thing. Only thing nice about them is that they handle and drive well because they are so much like regular vehicles.

All the ambulances across the province are standardized. and they suck in the snow, which here causes a problem.

Most of the units I've worked out of were Ford-350 or equivalent truck chassis rigs set up as mobile intensive care or rescue units. I never had much trouble driving them but I grew up in a farming community too and was driving grain trucks at 14. I can't recall one of these ever getting stuck.

Seen one of the ones here stuck in less than 4 inches of snow. Told them to leave it there and grab the stretcher. With 4 of our guys we got it going again

AMR Seattle just went to all Mercedes Sprinter Vans. I do like how they are taller in the back. I could almost stand all the way up in the back

On average how hard is the physical fitness test to pass the course for PCP, and the driving test? I have a bit of a gut on me, and the first day of courses is in a August. should I take I be good or should I wait a year work out and slim down, and save up money for the course? I've got so many questions!!

Go now, but get your cardio in order along with your quads. That's what will kill you.

My current unit is a Mod and oddly enough I just realized last night that it's the only unit I can stand up in fully with just a hint of a slouch. No wonder I love it so much!
