Anyone with 700lb coil springs and aftermarket plate bumper

I'm looking for anyone who has switched from a 650lb coil spring 13" or 14" long to a 700lb coil spring 13" or 14" long with an adjustable coilover and heavy front end from aftermarket bumper/winch. Question: how did the ride compare between the 650 lb coil spring with more preload and the 700 lb coil spring with less preload?

I can't compare because I got 700# right off the bat. I watched many others pre-load the piss out of their suspension with 650# springs which in turn made them wear out fast.

IMO 700# springs should be run on all trucks with plate bumpers. I know some guys with 650# will disagree, but once their coils wear out maybe they will reconsider.

I primarily run fire roads at medium speeds. Truck is lifted about 2" with plate front and rear bumpers with ATO skids.

I was in the same model truck running the same model shocks with 650# springs and I couldn't notice a difference.

The other owner had about 1-2" of thread showing.

Me too. Although they aren't installed yet I knew with plate bumper skid and winch I wanted a heavier duty spring so I wouldn't have to put as much preload on them. I agree with everything XXX has said.

 

Hmm some people run them for a reason. They would rather bend a spindle than rip apart something else

Worst yet is I had spare spindles and gussets for almost a year or longer in my parts room.

Hell, my tire gate has been cracked for over a year

Haven't bent one yet.

this...and laziness....and the fact I needed new wheels to fit the gussets on without spacers.

 

To me it was worth it. Cheap insurance to know I shouldn't have to worry about breaking one

OP, PM slimwood shady he just put an ARB bumper on and upgraded from the 650 Icon springs to the 700 Kings.

 

Icon uses a "special" length spring that's longer then what King uses. I would be weary of changing them around. I know that King 700# will work with Fox no problem.

I have a few local friends I need to ask...they actually offered I'm just not good at asking for help. My bumper needs some help (couple cracked welds), my gussets need welding, and I have a shackle flip in the works that will need some welding.
