not the same thing, his shocks hydrolocked when they were fully dropped out and started to compress. they took the spacer out of the inside of the shock that prevents the shaft from extending all the way, so at droop the piston went past the bottom tube,

What you really need to do is solid mount your motor and trans (and possibly your cab). Its not the shifter moving, its your trans and/or cab moving and pushing the shifter. If it did it on the brakes, then most likey your cab is moving forward and pushing the shifter into neutral

well, i think it did it when i was stopping because it doesn't fully "seat" into "D"... it's been jacked up ever since pismo last september and i haven't hit dirt since then so i haven't bothered to try and fix it because it's usually not an issue on the road

as long as my truck is still my DD i'm not going to solid mount the drive train...

I would at least replace the mounts then, that rubber gets old and flexes more than it should. Are they still stock? Also maybe check the linkages underneath on the shifter, that will cause the shifter to "show" in the wrong position. You dont want to ruin your transmission

Ok, so i know that Matt said that this was just a shifter swap, but i have a few questions.

    1. What vehicle is this a picture of? Im guessing by the floor mat that its a 1st gen tacoma.

    2. The shifter gate indicates a 3-speed transmission, correct?

    3. If it is indeed a 1st gen taco, when did first gens come with 3-speed transmissions?

The shocks slow compression but do little to help the suspension return to ride height. That's where the air bumps come in -- they act as a secondary suspension of sorts and change the spring rate to help the suspension get back into position in preparation for the next hit.

That shifter does nothing with the transmission gear selection. You retain your 1 2 d n r p. the 1st gen shifter uses a cable/lever system to select the gears. Same as the Chevy Trans, hence why that shifter works with our trucks.
