I pulled into a parking lot and decided to park next to this OLD, but decent shape white tacoma. It was first year tacoma, 2 WD and white. My 2007 white TOWERED over it. The driver was getting out same time I was and he stopped to admire mine as I admired his, especially after he told me it had 420,000 miles on it. He said he never needed a 4wd, that if you knew how to drive a 2WD well there was no need (impressive since he was from michigan). He had rebuilt it ONCE and havnt had any problems with it! He showed me the odometer and I showed off a few mods (consisting of only the TSB haha) since I was actually picking up krylon fusion for the headlight mod and badges :) I know it doesnt count for anything but I figured you'd appriciate the story

I just gave my 1996 2wd to my brother. I have pics of the truck but not of the odometer and it had 432,xxx miles on it. Next time i see him I will take a pic of the odometer for you. She is a beaut and bulletproof. I kept up maintenance and changed oil regularly. Lots of squeaks but no real problems.

I have never been to michigan, grew up in STL and drove back and forth to NW Florida regularly.

Truck is still owned by me but I simply gave it to my brother to use while his car is down.

That picture is only a month old if that. If he so much as scratches that truck I will go get it and bring it back home. It is still in GREAT shape all things considered. I have a friend that works at a dealership so it gets regular maintenance unlike any other. I just had him go through everything from belts and brakes to cleaning the fuel system. I mean a top to bottom checkup and it only costs me a couple hundred bucks.

I just drove it to STL a few weeks ago and I have no worries taking off on long trips at all. Im aiming for 500k and then on to a million with it.

you should look into doing it yourself or with a buddy who knows what to do

i know down here the parts will cost me around 180 bucks...but after labor...everything for a timing belt and water pump will cost me between $700-$800 from the dealer
