They have the gaurd dogs 285 75 16 with load range C now. I getting ready to order some more. Should I go with the Cs or stay with the Ds? I am happy with my Ds now but if Cs can get me better mpgs...

I'm very interested in a set of guard dogs but i have a few questions about them. Does any one have an idea how much a 285/75r16 Guard Dog D weighs? I'm just trying to compare them to my Pro comps I have now. And How do the guard dogs perform as a winter tire?

    Thanks,
    Opie

Not sure about the winter handling... I live in San Diego.... lol

And give the company a call about the weight. I think it would depend on load range and what side wall they use to start with.

My shipping label said 69lbs a piece iirc. I didn't have any problems with my guard dogs this past winter, but we didn't get a whole lot of snow in Ohio so I can't give you a full review on their winter performance.

Did you notice any huge drop in mpgs with switching to the guard dogs?

I got around 16-19mpg with my 265/75/16 BFG A/T KOS and now I get 14-15 mpg with the guard dogs. There will be a drop in mpgs if you up tire sizes.

Well I've had 2 sets on the rear tires and never rotated them once. Each one lasted maybe 10k miles? But that's really abusing the tires, lots of offroading, chirping the tires, hard acceleration etc and never roatated. Actually I did end up putting one in the front and its worn a lot slower. Going with the warden for better onroad traction and better tire life and to make myself stay out of the mud

I'd love to see pics of the worn out ones if you still have them. Curious how far down people run them before replacement.

Turns out the C load rated guard dogs in 265/75/16 are out of stock. Can't wait much longer plus I have found a great deal on goodyear wrangler duratraks $700 mounted and balanced. So not going with the guard dogs.

The treadwrights are still less expensive, and would have went with them if could have had them sooner. Will keep them in mind for the future. Also I will be ordering one of their available tires for a spare in the next few weeks as the old one under the truck will not match the new tires size.

How long do you think it would be then? The C loads were on backorder when I first looked at them and now they aren't even in stock.
