ome with 5100

So, i may be selling my motorcycle soon, if I do I can finally order my lift.
So I'm pricing it out on wheelers for the 40000th time, and this is what im not sure about.
The OME 881's say "Average lift from this coil set on an extra cab v6 Tacoma is 1.75-2"

and the 5100's say "3 spring seat positions you can choose that provide approximately 0-2.5"

Are the OME springs going to be long enough to work with the 5100's set at 2.5?

 

I have the OME 881's and OME soft shocks. I love the ride. I got about 2.25"s of lift. Im subscribing because im curious to see if 5100's set at 2.5 and OME 881's will give over 4"s of lift.

 

they won't get 4'' of lift. they would get max 2.5''
What I'm wondering is are the 881's long enough to work with the 5100's?
is this a good setup
(chris 4x4 I know you think 5100's are the wrong way to go and full ome is the shit, but i've heard great things about the 5100's and heard of sagging with the ome's)haha your gona see this thread I'm sure so just wanted to clarify that right away.

 

I would assume they would work because stock coils work with 5100's set at 2.5 and OME coils are longer.

So now I'm wondering will they sag prematurely due to being made for different heights?

 

I have never heard of someone putting the 5100's at 2.5 and stuffing 881's in there.

Have you considered getting 881's with the reg 5100's that are not adj. You would still get a nice lift. Im worried about the ride....

 

I don't trust the coil spring to do all the work, I feel like it would sag much faster..
anyone else have some input?

 

i have ome 881's and billy 5100's, but my 5100's are at the stock setting. with them ome's though...adding them to the 5100's...i got 2 inches of lift. to be honest though.....not a good idea to preload those springs i dont think. better going with an 882 coil.

you mean because they will sag?

 

not so much that they will sag....but they will give you a little more lift than the 881....and you can possibly set the 5100's at the first notch from the bottom......a little bit of preload, but a little more lift that way, and it should still be safe.

hmm, I'll be building a fairly light front tube bumper soon. will this make the 882's a better decision or the 881's?

yep.............unless you like an extra stiff ride. may not be all that bad, but its definitely a stiffer spring than the 881.

 

hmm, shouldn't be that heavy. I guess i'll go with the 881's and just set the 5100's on te second setting. sound good?

I am looking for some new leafs too, but I dont wanna spend $700 on the rear for some deavers and shocks

So I was thinking the wheelers leafs..

 

i have the wheelers 5 pack rear leafs......love them. this is what my setup looked like(minus the 5100's) when i got all of it last summer.

other than the leafs and shocks etc. what are the small things I need to make sure I get? new shackles? longer Ubolts? would this be a good time to do a Ubolt flip?
