I searched for the thread, but couldn't find it. Anyone have a link to the thread where some guy explains what to tell your alignment shop when aligning with LR UCAs? I've been to two shops, and neither of them know how to do it. They align the truck into "stock" specs, and the rear of my tire always rubs my cab. I try to explain that you can adjust the UCAs, but it does no good. Help?

Go to the SPC website, search for your application and find the UCAs and then read the FAQ.

Basically it says something like, max caster at the LCA cams, disregard camber. Adjust camber at the upper ball joint, torque adjusting nut when finished back to 150 ft lbs.

That's to try an eliminate rubbing.

I'll also be watching for an update, as I have LR UCAs ready for install and I don't really trust any alignment shops around me. I probably won't be able to get around to installing them for another week, though. Let us know how it goes!

I'm glad I found this. I just installed LR UCA's over the weekend. Went to get alignment done, asked the guys if they could do it, and they said yes. When it was done, I drive off and it's pulling to the right. Take it back and they adjust them, I drive off, and it's better but still pulling.

I noticed that they had not touched the UCA's. So I go back a 3rd time and tell them I want a different guy to do it and that he's probably gonna have to play with the UCA's. New guy finishes, backs out and the front right tire rubs the rear of the fender real hard.

He told me I have to trim the fender if I want it aligned properly.

I was planning on trimming a bit anyway, but I'm glad I read this thread. Going to take that info. over to them.

Yeah I was asking around the other day here too. No one has even heard of the LR UCA's around here. I showed a guy I work with my LC UCA's this morning and he owns a 4x4 shop and installs lifts and he thought it was the coolest thing. Said he had never heard of or seen them before. WTF? He's installed lifts for 20 years.

I did and the first guy said you don't need to adjust the UCA's if it can get aligned w/out touching them; which he said he could do.

I don't think the 2nd guy looked at the sheet. I had it on the passenger seat but I was too busy complaining about the first guy and I forgot to bring it up now that I think about it.

Well im at another alignment shop. Same thing happening to me. The tech literally has no idea what I'm talking about. He keeps saying, "well if we can get it right from the bottom we won't have to touch the Uca"... fml. I've showed him all the diagrams and instructions, but I don't think this is going to work. sigh

If you have the UCA at the neutral setting , they probably can do all their adjustment with the bottom cams

They can, but I'm trying to get clearance at the rear of the wheel, and do the adjustments from the top

Don't you have to do your final adjustments with the bottom cams either way ? The top adjustment moves in 1/2 and full degree increments only

Correct. If the UCA is at the neutral setting, everything can be done on the bottom.

Well.... I was under the impression that you needed to max the caster at the bottom for clearance and correct the camber with the uca adjustment

So you want to set the BJ for the next highest caster setting , then do your adjustments at the bottom as per bjmoose's LR UCA thread
