    Guys,

Looking to purchase a Scan Guage or Ultra Guage type unit that will display fuel consumption, ATF temperature, etc. I know very little of the two units but know that the price does vary quite a bit between the two.

Did Scan Guage finally get the Toyota codes to read ATF temps?

Does the Ultra Guage Unit read ATF Temp?

I really want a unit for the CEL codes capability and the trip computyer with fuel consumption, but the ATF portion would be nice also.

    Any reccommendations?

    Thanks...

    OK, really?

I might be one of the new guys here, but come on.
    Search. Search. Search. Search. Search.

Regardless, yes, scangauges read the trans temp, as long as you have an automatic and you have the new software on the gauge (which you will if you buy a new one) You'll have to search for the xcode info to plug in.

If you decide on the UG, there is a group buy going on for it.

    I did "search, search, search".

And after multiple results I "read, read, read". Searching for a solid answer on this is like searching for "best motor oil" or "best tires".

Since you seem well versed in the subject, the Ultra Guage appears to be near half the price of the Scan Guage. So tell me, what features am I missing out on if I buy the cheaper of the two? And as per my original question, does the Ultra Guage read the ATF temps?

That's because you're asking for a objective answer to a subjective question. Having now considered that, I do understand that you're simply unable to make a decision for yourself based on the available data. That's OK, some people aren't able to make decisions, some are.

Let's face it, you're going to install this, play with it for a couple of days, and then the bling factor will wear off and it'll become just like that discarded gift at christmas. You'll told Aunt Lucy that you loved the slippers, but really, they just sat in the back of your closet. Or, in this case, it'll sit on your dash and you'll look at it once or twice an hour.

    Bottom line:
Do you want the buttons on the front or the back?
If you want them on the front, buy a scangauge.
If you want them on the rear, buy an ultra gauge.

(that's what you're really looking for, isn't it?, somebody to tell you what to do?)

The ultra gauge does not read trans temperatures. That's also well covered, had you really searched rather than derping your way though this process.

Lets not be a douche. At least he didnt ask what the biggest tire he can fit on stock suspension.

I have a scangauge and while i like what it offers theyre not very aesthetically pleasing. Im switching to the UG.

Was the specific questions I asked too complicated for you?:p

Too much conflicting (and sometimes due to date) info regarding the two. The latest group buy thread states about the UG: "They function above and beyond a full Scangauge II." Yet, thanks to your infinite wisdom and abundance of srcasm, I now know is isn't true.

We all know you were trying to enlarge your phallus via being a keyboard tough guy, but inadvertantly you did help - and for that I thank you.

Oh, wow, ouch. You got me. You win.
    You're the bigger man.

I'll take my scangauge and go away now.

EDIT: For what it's worth, I wasn't being a dick. I was trying to point out that your decision is your decision, and input from other people doesn't help you. Take facts, not opinions into account. The information available to you is for you to judge---asking for clarification about something you already know to be true or false doesn't help you.

It's like this: Standing in the grocery store, you ask a random person "Which is the better frozen pizza for me?"
That person can tell you all about the ingredients and differences between them, but if you don't like Digorno's (sp?) then their recommendation could be meaningless.

OK, so, now I'm going to take my scanguage and go away.

Nah, I was kind of a dick to the poor guy, and I realized that I didn't specifically say "THE UG DOES NOT READ TRANS TEMP!!!", so I can understand how he'd miss it, even though it's well documented on both their web page and in several posts here.

When I check these forums everyday it seems like the same questions are being asked over and over. When I plan on making a purchase I do research. I don't understand why people don't search and compare similar products knowing damn well the have something called a website. These threads are just as retarded as the "which mod should I do first?" or "what's the difference between the 2011 and 2012 Tacoma?" I can't believe I share the road with some of these people.:frusty:
