Noob help with tires.

Hello all, After years of waiting I finally bought a Tacoma. I just purchased a White 2012 Tacoma V6,Dual Cab TRD Sport with extended box. Im looking to get Moto Metal 951b's but have some questions. Im a noob so please be gentle .

1. what size do I need?
2. Can my factory tires fit on them/if not what size do I need?
3. Will this effect my tire pressure gauge?
4. Will I need spacers or anything else other than the rims?

Sorry for the noob post but thanks in advanced for any help.

A. I would like to stay with stock size. But if I could go bigger without having to do anything else I would.

This will be dependent on the actual specs of the wheels.

A. MY stock tire size is 265/65/17

A. The only size i can find that appears to be near my current rim size is 17" by 9". However IDK if 9" is to wide.

 

You can go up to 265/70/17 if you like.

We still need to know the specs of the wheels, as in their offset and/or backspacing.

9" is outside of the approved rim width for many 265/70/17 tires, but there are some that it will work with. you have to check on the tire manufacturers website.

 

That is what im not sure of. I read that my stock tire is

TRD Sport Alloy Wheels: 17x7.5, +30 mm offset, 5.5" backspacing, 6x5.5" bolt pattern, 108 mm hub bore, ? lbs

However I cant find a rim that matches. The Rims that I like are the moto metal 951b's and they have -12mm Offset, and 4.5" Backspace.

You won't find any aftermarket wheel that will match your stockers. The wheels you linked will stick out about 3" more than your stock wheels.

 

What folks tend to find is they can go oversize on diameter (eg 265/70R17) on stock rims OR go to a rim with less offset (eg from +30 to -12) but not BOTH.

If you really want that particular 9" rim, You might be able to go to a lower profile wider tire mounted on it -- eg 285/60R17.

That's great, thank you. Is there any info out there on if a set size will rub or require regearing. I'm really trying not to do any of that or do any lifts. Also a quick second question if not any sites that will advise this information do any of you have wheels and tires that do not rub on a non lifted taco? Also what sizes?

I'm now thinking to avoid this issue of switching to the moto metal 16"
