Im sure this was already covered, but what do yall do for a living? I am currently working in the environmental field, but looking for something else. O&G, back to school, teaching, government work, who knows. Just looking for some opinions on how yall like your jobs.

On site geology and geosteering in the Williston Basin. Also have experience in the Anadarko Basin. :) Love my job but thinking about moving into the office in the next year or so. Whether that's remote steering or training or whatever with my current company or working for an operator... guess I won't know until I sign the offer sheet ;)

^^ I'm always tempted to comment but I work in the O&G industry. No matter way I say someone tells me I'm biased. So I just say, "Interesting article."

LOL I actually had a reply and hit send and it frickin' froze my phone. So to sum up, the evidence is preliminary and the article doesn't present both sides. For example, in Oklahoma both injection wells and fracking have been blamed for a series of recent small earthquakes along a fault system that has a history of earthquake swarms. It's possible these processes are caused by wells, but the evidence isn't very definitive.

    Yes.

Also, the focus of the earthquakes is much deeper than drilling occurs. We drill perhaps 2 miles into the Earth; the focus of these earthquakes is much deeper, 5 miles or more. So to cause that much of a chain reaction would require pressurizing water across 3 miles of pores that don't transmit fluid particularly quickly because it's moving through pore spaces between grains of sand.

Ah.....I think they are reclaiming the water here.

How do you get the drill to turn 90°?

    I've always wondered that
