    I know there's a thread already on the bull bar they make, which is $1000!

    But, here's a video on how they strip down a regular Toyota and turn it into an Arctic Truck. Seems it may be good for the soft sand too.

    Not sure if it's just an option or if it's standard equipment, but diesel is at least an option on the Hilux.

    Old Man Emu 2.5" lift, brush guard (about to be changed), grey-wire mod, custom bed mounts for 4 jerrycans, custom survival box, maglite mount, KC Dayliters.
    Not only that, but diesel is a must in cold weather like that. Gasoline engine can't even run at such low temperatures. As it is, those arctic trucks have special fuel warmers for the diesel tanks! :eek:

    You do realize a cold diesel is infinitely harder to start than a cold petrol engine right? Not to mention diesels fun loving ability to jell if it gets too cold.

    Yup, sorry bud but you got this one bass ackwards. Gasoline has a far, far lower flashpoint then diesel meaning it will ignite at far lower temps. Diesel engines are preferred for fuel economy and performance reasons but diesel itself it difficult to use in cold weather. Many northern diesel vehicles don't get turned off at all. If they do the diesel "gels" to the point where the heat of compression is no longer high enough to reach autoignition and then you are SOL.
