National Park Service News Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: DATE: April 9, 2012 CONTACT: 252-473-2111 Cape Point Temporarily Closes to ORV Access Acting Superintendent Paul Stevens announces the temporary off-road vehicle(ORV) and pedestrian access closure of Cape Point area in accordance withthe requirements of the ORV Management Plan for Cape Hatteras NationalSeashore. On April 8, 2012, just south of Ramp 44 along the ocean shoreline, NationalPark Service staff observed piping plover breeding behavior which resultedin the closure. The width of the beach is very narrow in the area commonlyknown as "the bypass" and the required buffer of 75-meters to the eastresulted in the full beach closure. There currently is not an alternativeORV access route or shoreline pedestrian access through the resourceclosure to Cape Point. For more information on beach access, check Google Earth maps at:http://www.nps.gov/caha/planyourvisit/googleearthmap.htm or call252-473-2111, ext. 148. -NPS-

But it isn't a case of the pot calling the kettle black... You called someone a name. He didn't. You could argue that he used profanity, but that is a completely separate issue...

They can hump all they want. 75 miles of beach is plenty room. We humans don't have to help them with humping by closing the beaches down for them. My dog humps everything in site yesterday he started to hump the neighbors dog in the middle of the street, so let me close the road down for a month so no one disturbs him. This is silly crap. Its nature, these birds will survive with out our help, they have for millions of years.

You will surely survive without a recreational fishing spot as well. Humans have for millions of years.

Completely off topic, but my parents recently found a stray beagle and have taken it in. It goes to TOWN on my leg. First of all, it's a female, second, it's been fixed...what gives??

Don't let it do that  It's trying to dominate you by mounting your leg. When you let it; it's like saying "I accept you are more dominant that I am." and you really don't want that.
