Just wanted to point out that if a Christian tries to share thtotkedeir beliefs with a non-beleiver they are called pushy and whatever else for forcing their views onto someone, but look at this thread. It's titled What's your Religion. The contents of which are mostly nonbelievers pushing what they think/believe and being ten times more critical than the people they despise for being critical. Can no one, simply as a fellow human being, see the irony in calling someone a pushy fanatic while doing so as a pushy fanatic? Haha

Bashing something you know little to nothing about is pretty pointless in the first place, but Christian, Atheist, or Buddhist, is it really necessary to rant and rave and get riled up and angry because people disagree about things?

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't care how many people believe in God. I was talking more about his style of thinking in his belief. His way is more of a blind "I can't explain it or imagine it any other way so it must be God" way of thinking. Watch the video, he actually says that man isn't capable of understanding the majesty or inner workings of the world, or God's "thought process", and leaves it at that.

That way of thinking boggles my mind. I am one of those people that doesn't believe all opinions are equal... If your (not you specifically Larry, I like you and you seem even keeled to me) opinion is based on faulty information, or nothing other than a "well that's what I believe" mentality, then quite frankly the opinion is invalid and crappy. Hell, there are times when I will agree with someones opinion or thoughts, but not like their reasoning or logic behind it, and I will still argue with them!

Simply accepting something is not something I am willing to do, and when I see people like Hannity, people whose faith seems to be rooted in nothing more than an "I can't explain it" mentality, well that is when I see a problem!

Way to drag the explanation out of me BTW... you could have just asked me to clarify... :D

Nah. Just the last few pages have had the ranting and trolling. At some point it actually was a decent discussion.

Well there is the problem right there... The Pew Research Institute did a general religious knowledge study that covered multiple religions, and Atheists/Agnostics scored higher than anyone... While certainly not representative of all Atheists and Agnostics, generally they know more about religion than the religious...

As for the bashing and bickering back and forth... I thought the thread was fairly civil for the most part... several of us are ven having quite a fun discussion!

This is funny though, that you would have such a smug and omnisicent attitude towards something you know nothing, or concedingly very little about, in a thread debating/questioning/disproving aspects of religion. I see it as being slightly ironic.

No qualms here. From reading your previous post I think it would be fair to say we share a similar annoyance with ignorance. I was just pointing out the irony I saw

What are you talking about? Seriously. What do I have a smug/omniscient attitude about? Because my comment isn't really attached to anything, so clarify?

This "pushing ideologies upon each other" is quite the beaten horse.

Why do you make it sound as though you wish there were no discussion regarding religion. Can i not post topics that i would like to have discussions regarding?

Please thank chris16 for trying to end the discussion in the form of neutral reps. But there never was any real discussion, it was all a very circular argument where secular arguments are presented, and dismissed through deflection or for being the actions of god that are beyond our mortal minds comprehension.

I read it Chris... and it was pretty clear to me--thx. Some, however, still fail to understand basic English.

I am a christian, I believe that man is presented with all these problematic mysteries in order for one to search his own heart and find the willingness and care to stand out and say that "I Love the Lord Jesus Christ!" as the bible does say "I will Love the Lord thy God will all my heart mind and soul". I believe that God wishes for us to Love him from our hearts and not from fear of him. I was not raised in church but i was never preached to disbelieve either, I personal accepted Christ a little over 2 Months ago. I am not preaching but i do believe that if you wholeheartedly desire to find God he will assist you and leave with you the option to follow or turn away. Just my own veiw. God Bless all of you!

    And bless you Zack.

Watch your life change as you explore deeper and follow your faith. It's amazing the wonderful things our Father God has planned for you, if you just believe in your heart and worship.

and correct, he gives us free will to follow or not. I spent many years not living my life for the Lord, and when I let go of the controll that we all feel we need in the natural world...he has rained the blessings upon me.

there is no peace...like peace in God.
Love for others...contentment...compassion...fellowship... conscientious stewardship of our earth, our possessions, money & self.

    It is awesome!!!
