The 74,323 what tire size question...

So before I pull the trigger and switch from a 275/65/18 to a 285/75/16 I wanted to see if anyone regretted running a 33. I have icons up front and 5100's and new leafs so I know they will fit with more trimming. Just wanted to know if you guys would recomend any other size. Gas milage is not a major concern, but performance offroad is the primary reason for the upgrade. Really would like to ditch the 18's for something with a little more sidewall. Most of my offroad driving is in the desert or up in the mountains.

Wait so do you have 18"s or 16"s? You wont regret going with 285's cause thats what I have on my 18"s and I love them!! I dont off-road very often but I have been in some crappy places and the truck did just fine!! You will see a decrease in gas mileage though.

 

Sorry should have clarified. I currently have 18's and thinking of switching to a 16. From the tire size tool here it looks like the 285/75/16 is almost a inch taller. Pretty sure I'll need a cab mount chop.

 

You might be able to get away without chopping your cab mounts but if you do a lot of off-roading like you said, might be a good idea for the chop.

 

Thanks for the reply! Id try it without first but rubbing kinda drives me crazy and I always like a excuse to wrench on the truck.

 

I ran that tire size and loved it. I had the 16 inch off-road wheels on mine and it was great off road. I didn't rub the cab mount too much so a chop isn't necessary but I was planning on getting it done anyway.

 

The 285/75/16 correct? What wheels were you running?

 

Yeah and I was running the stock off-road wheels (the ones on the TRD OR's).
