Exactly, why the hell do they care. The only thing they "qualify" is jailbreak - of course, I can't jailbreak my own device. I am not aware of any apps that are expressly not allowed, again other than JB... which really isn't an app.

As for saving data out of GFE, no way! I'm pretty sure that would defeat the purpose of keeping all the corporate data in one app, and remote wipe only wiping that one app. If you could save data, you'd have to then be able to remote wipe the entire device - because who knows where the sensitive company info is on the device...

Must be nice to be able to use a cell phone at work. Ha! I work in a Gov't facility and the only google/apple product(s) we're allowed to get to is Gmail. No cell, no itunes, no cloud, nuttin. But hey, it pays the bills.

10 hours working at the golf course today makes me appreciate this career path. Looking forward to getting my degree and having a somewhat badass job.

Someday I won't have to work with end users anymore....

User calls helpdesk - "Hi everything is super slow"

Me - "Ok... what is slow"

User - "Everything, the internet is slow"

Me - "Ok... what are you trying to do that is being slow?"

User - "I'm trying to print a reciept and it won't come up to print"

Me - "Is there a message about a pop-up being blocked?

    User - "Yes"

    Disables pop up blocker....

Me - "Does that solve the problem?"

    User - "Yes, thank you!"

Me - "Eat shit a die..."

You will still end up dealing with end users forever. You just won't be the first line of support with these stupid questions

This. I don't even know what tier I'm at, mostly do project work and serious break/fix things... and I still deal with end users. Sometimes indirectly, but if they're important... still gotta deal w/'em directly.

LOL, this is basically the worst part of IT, but definitely will never go away...

Unless you make an architect position, then you have to explain why you need to buy something to all the idiot managers. Never ends dude, just be glad you're not working in a call center for your local cable provider... :bananadead:

Hahaha, I had to do this just last night... on-site tech (3rd party company) tried to install 2800 series RAM and CF card with a 2800 series IOS on it... and the router was a 3825. Dipshit. Hrm, wonder why it wouldn't boot eh?

Usually they roll out there with all the right stuff, but in this case I had to manually TFTP the 3800 series IOS over the WAN. Fortunately this particular site had 3 T1's... If it was one of our fractional T1 sites... There's no smiley for shooting myself in the head, so this the closest I could come lol. :smash: Good thing that router already had 512mb of RAM too, yeesh... We would've been completely screwed as v15+ requires 512mb of RAM. Even in dinky 2811's...

I do not miss that! Ours was only like 50 though where I used to work.

Love this new company....I don't have to wear 50 hats anymore. We have a couple of hundred IT people in the new company....if I have a network problem now I send it to the networking group.

I do alot less work now for a lot more money LOL They should change my title to Field TW & FB surfer instead of IT Field Analyst

If it can't be fixed with a pint of brew and a hammer, I'm not interested.
