Thanks for the write up Scott. Using your instructions I was able to de-badge my Taco quickly and easily in less than an hour.

    No, it's not Krylon.

Go to ebay and do a search for your paint color code.

You should get some results for a seller in CA that sells color matched spray cans and touchup paint.

Many members of this board have used their stuff with great results.

    Sorry if been asked-
But I assume that almost no matter the weather (on both sides of the extremes) the 3M dbl sided tape will NOT peel/fall off....?

Here's my version of this mod: Remove badges as described by the OP, go to dealer, order black emblems, install.

Dealer ordered emblems will never fade, peel, bubble etc so I really dont understand why people even bother painting them.

They aren't as cheap as painting I know that. But the X-runner comes can come with black badges.

Are we supposed to get double sided FOAM tape or just regular tape for this?

Dealer told me that they can get all emblems in all colors that Tacomas come in. They also come with the adhesive already installed. Price, I cant remember, but I think around $30 each?

So here's a 2020 update to my blacked out badges.

After about 2-3 years there was so much stone chipping that I decided to plasticoat them.

    Best.

    Decision.

    Ever.

Badge removal/reinstall is not necessary, and they still look great after many many years.

Looks great! As soon as my chrome nose and chrome rear bumper go away, I'll do the same to the badges.
