    Hey all,

So I noticed while I was driving by a local Toyota dealership the other day that they have a used 05 TRD 4dr out front for sale. I also noticed that the truck has the TRD cat-back exhaust. Upon closer examination once I pulled in to look, I noticed that it has a real nice Pioneer double din DVD player head unit and a set of OEM TRD seat covers... I have the same year and model minus the parts...

Being the opportunistic type of guy I am, asked the sales man once he came out to pester me if there was any chance that I could swap my stock exhaust and radio over for the stuff on this used truck. The long and short of it was NO...I don't take no for an answer...

Once I got home I called the dealership and asked to speak with the manager and pitched the idea to him. To sweeten the deal, I also offered to pay labor to have them swap the exhausts over in the service department there. My stock radio is already pulled from my truck as I have a single din Pioneer unit installed so they would only need to pull the double din and swap in my stock radio. I told him I know a lot of dealerships like to sell used vehicles as close to stock as possible and that this could be a win win for both parties. The manager said he has never done that before and he would have to get back to me so I left my number with him.

That was yesterday and when I called today to follow up, I was told he was not in and that I would have to try to reach him tomorrow.

What do you all think my chances are for getting a green light? I would be pumped if he gave it the go ahead!

    Cheers!

If I could do it I would, save the shipping and you would have it "installed at the dealer" but chances are its not going to happen.

Working at a dealership you will have a better chance of catching polio. haha. This would never fly here so I doubt it will be any chance of happening. I think he told you he would get back to you just to get off the phone.

Haha, yeah I'm cheap! I'm ALWAYS looking for a good deal!

I'm figuring it will be a no but there is never any harm in asking.

Believe me, I know for a fact, I could have that exhaust off in less then 10 min at 2am lol! I just thought I would be legit you know.

    I have my fingers crossed...

It's all good, no worries. I figured so :D

Just comes down to opportunity. The TRD set up new is not exactly cheap. Thought I would throw it out there and see what happens. Could be a win win.

BTW, I would never steel anything off the truck. However, funny story about this particular dealership: We had a snowstorm that knocked the power out for a couple hours a few years back. No power - no lights - no security cameras and somebody thought it was the perfect time to yank the rims and tires off of a few new vehicles. The following morning as I drove by headed to work, there were a few cars on blocks or an the ground covered with snow with no wheels... I imagine it was not fun trying to clear the snow out and figure out wtf happened.

Well first of all, I don't think they would do it because there is no guarantee that your parts will pass smog. They'd have to re-smog the car and I'm now sure they would want to pay for that. Second of all, it would not be too wise to trade a not stock stereo for theirs. What would be the gain in that?

Second of all, are you saying that you can steal it and are just trying to be a nice guy right now?

You don't take no for an answer so...

Well it's a good thing this is the internet because if something happens to that vehicle we will consider this a coincidence. And I'm sure with all of the Toyota buffs around here, it's easy to figure out what dealership you are referring to.

Plus one post because chris will delete mine I think. GL OP but for a useful post be sure to test out the HU before buying/exchanging it because used electronics can be a bitch or a gold mine personally I wouldn't get 2nd hand head units but if it's what you want and it works good have at it.
