Well, I knew I was on the verge of doing it.

My habits are the same since I was a kid. Investigate. Go look, then buy. Well, I lurked and lurked at Toyota of Buena Park, CA and was helped by Blair Wallace.

He sold me a truck, a Prerunner with 784 miles on it, 4 cly manual. I drove it home and didn't like it at all.

The shifter was notchy, the mill seemed to be noisy and the cab (regular) was too small. I took it back within an hour and said I wanted something else.

We talked and I got a 2008 Prerunner, 6 cyl, auto, access cab. I'm very happy with this. It is Silver.

I immediately bought to pop lock and a steering wheel cover as I wear out one spot at 1 o'clock on every wheel. Also got blind spot mirrors.

It's home now but I don't have a camera. I can take a cell phone pic in the am if you really want to see it and send it to a member who can post it.

But you know what it's like.

Upcomming mods are the Fumoto drain valve with Mobil 1 Extended life. Armorlid and a bed mat.

I may get a bug guard. Don't know if it really helps or is just decoration.

Will get rear and front steel bumper, more for show than function. Since I like those looks.

OK, see you on the road. If you want to do light off road or shoot, let me know. LA area.:D

Congratulations both of you! Looks like ERdept just made Senior Member on the website today too. There probably hasn't been too many members reach Senior Member status before they even own a taco. I am sure you will both love the trucks.

Well, I want to be sure and you guys were the WELL OF KNOWLEDGE. I just noticed that too. I'm a senior already!? I thought getting old wasn't for sissys.

Really, I'm pretty darn happy. My FJ buddy wants me to "break it in" in Gorman Hungry Valley trails.

I think I can hang for the most part if it's dry. If it's wet, well, I got the tow hooks in front.

Oh yeah, forgot to say. I also got the tow package because of the extra oil and tranny cooler.

Congrats! Sounds like a good truck! Just out of curiosity, why didn't you get a 4x4? I mean, you KNOW your FJ buddy is gonna drag you places and laugh when you get stuck right? :D Maybe I'm the only one that would do that.....

Did you get the locker? That'll help keep up with the FJ! If you have it, I'd recommend becoming familiar with it. I don't know the factory limitations on a prerunner. If you can lock it and then go over 5mph with it locked it'll help you get through some wet spots, and could save you some time pulling out the tow straps.

Also, I'd upgrade the factory rubber if your budget allows. They work fine on roads and dry stuff, but aren't the best in mud. You'll need all the help you can get if you don't want to crawl through mud to hook up a tow strap.

And since you have the tow package get a hitch mounted shackle to hook the strap up to so you can be yanked out from behind if needed.

I didn't get teh 4X4 for various reasons. And if it were a different world for me I would.

But, it costs too much. The insurance is higher. The additional cost of the insurance and truck versus the times I'd use it would be very little.

I just had to be honest with myself. I really thought I would go offroad more, but just finding time to go to the gym around the block is difficult enough already.

Gotcha. I don't ave much time myself either, but at least it comes in handy during the winter. I usually wheel in 2wd anyway, and just use 4wd to get out of jams then go back to 2wd.

I have lots of time now that I'm unemployed, but with such tight budget I've avoided wasting gas or paying to go to off road parks. I do need to hit a local trail or something soon though to get it out of my system for a while! :D
