So after Devin's experience with his 4 Runner I thought it might be good to pick up one of these for our Moab Trip. :D

Now just where to mount this beast. Anyone think it will be unsafe to put it in the cab? It came with a mount.

If you only have one, put it outside the cab:cool:

What can happen if it's in the cab is you get fixated on getting the extinguisher and putting the fire out instead of getting your ass out of the truck and then putting the fire out

Hmm that is a good thought wise one. That never crossed my mind. Think it might get stolen out of the bed if mounted?

If it does, it'll be stolen along with whatever else is in your bed at the time. So that's all about where you want to draw the line.

The trick is having it on some sort of quick release mount so you can access it easily (yes, this will leave it more exposed to theft, but that's a risk I'm willing to take in the event I actually need a fire extinguisher)

    My 2 cents.

My objectives for a fire extinguisher have always been fast access, regardless of the situation. If you are going to only have one, it should be outside the truck and on a quick release. If the situation comes up where you need it, you don't want to be fumbling with keys if your truck is locked, or opening xtra cab doors, moving seats, or anything of the sort. If a fire starts inside the cab, your natual reaction is to get the fuck out of the truck, not reach for your fire extinguisher.

Unless your buddy's truck tire lights on fire cause he got drunk and parked his truck to close to the campfire and you happened to lock your truck (even though its not likely someone will break into your truck in the middle of the desert) and your keys happen to be under a camp chair occupied by a fat bitch eating chocolate cake who refuses to move until she licks her fingers clean. THEN you would have a problem.

Granted it's not your truck, but damm it would be nice to have an extingusher handy outside the truck. :D

Yeah this is a 3 pounder so it was bigger than I thought. Really couldn't find a good spot in the cab.
