It depends on how slow that trim is to move off the lot at the dealer you are looking at. That's the bottom line here. If the dealer has no trouble moving current stock out the door, you are not going to be able to seriously negotiate the price down if the dealer knows he can get someone else to take it for more.

Go to any online auto center like edmunds and look up the avg days on lot in your area and the avg price paid for the model and trim you are interested in here. This will tell you a lot about how slow current sales are. You also need to know what the dealer actually paid for the vehicle from Toyota but that can be hard to find sometimes.

Other than that, there is no formula or specific answer to give you. It all depends on any numbers of factors. However, don't expect to get any really serious discount on a 4x4 Tacoma in any trim, unless the dealer is really desperate and for some reason can't move them. My guess is you can probably get the dealer to come down to somewhere around 20,800 or so on a $21,800 retail sticker, maybe more like 21 even. That is realistic, IMO. I wouldn't expect to get much lower, however. Not on a 4x4.

I don't think you could do much better on any brand new 4x4 truck, let alone a Tacoma. Throw on the OEM cruise control for under $150 and you are good to go.

    Congrats!

That's good to hear. Hope your son enjoys the truck !

I got a TRD sport a month ago and had great difficulty getting the dealer to come down to where I wanted. They are just too hot and go too fast for a dealer to really give in to aggressive offers. Most people I hear are getting somwehre in the neighborhood of $500-$1000 off sticker, based on trim. On some of the more expensive models like the T/X pro, people get deeper discounts, but thats just ebcause the dealer jacked up the price on those to begin with. They really inflate the prices on those so when you get them to come down 2 grand, you think you came out ahead.
