More money into the pit  alright. I think I'm gonna buy better Rings too rather than rely on those shitty BSA rings

It's an option, yes. If you're going that route, you might just cut the prongs off your current GB with a dremel. You won't even have to take it off the gun. if you love it, then you can replace the GB if you want a cleaner look.

You can jump to about the 4:40 mark here and get an idea on what you need to cut if you go that route.

Id rather spend $30 on a new GB than have a cut off piece of metal on there

Any suggestions on halfway decent rings? I want an accessory rail on top. Gonna mount a red dot on it later on

That's gravy too. Only issue is that it might be a little unsightly if your barrel isn't parkerized under the block. At less than an inch long, it's not going to cover the same real estate as the original block so you're probably going to see the front pin hole. Also, I can't guarantee that the lo-pro block will be compatible with the handguard cap, which is needed to keep your handguards on (it's that round piece of metal right behind the front sight). Maybe Richard can chime in on that.

I think most people use some sort of canteliver rings for mounting a scope on their AR. I went with the Nikon ones, they were cheaper than the others but were a pain in the butt to align properly. Its almost a requirement to have it bore sighted with a laser to get the scope centered first prior to shooting. I didnt and it took me forever to get it sighted in.

Ya I always get it bore sighted after messing with the optics. And I don't want a flip up front sight. With the scope there is no room for a rear sight.

I use the bore-sight method for all my guns. For an AR, take the upper off the lower and take the BCG out. Then put it in your rest, on some bags or prop/squeeze/cram/jury rig it in place with some towels between your rifle bag and range bag - whatever works so it doesn't move. Adjust it so you can see the target at 25 yds through the bore of the barrel. Then without moving it, raise your head up to look through the scope and adjust your crosshairs to match. You'll be on paper at 25 and can make adjustments from there.

Works every time and keeps me form needing to buy a laser boresighter. Plus it's a cool trick to pull out when you see some poor sap at the range having trouble.

    I beg to differ...

Gen II Magpuls, 1" rings, same scope as yours. Curve of the rear eyepiece fits perfectly flush on top of the front and rear sights.
