Is that any cheaper than having Alcans in the rear?

Yes. If you want that much in the back, look into Dakars or All Pros.

These are built by Alcan for Wheelers. Not sure, but you can call Alcan to see what they can custom build for your specific needs and see what they say. Maybe some other folks who have bought custom Alcans will chime in.

Using shackles and a 5 pack isn't a bad option at all.

I have 1.25'' daystar shackles on my truck now, and will couple them with the 5 pack to get ~2.5-3''

Will these springs give me any more weight hauling capability ?

over stock, yes. But depends on how much you want to haul. There could be better options depending on what you use your truck for.

A bit, note sure how much specifically, other than "one more leaf's worth." If you haul stuff at or near capacity regularly, you could look into the Timbrens to add to the new leafpack.

Note that the Wheelers 5-pack does have an overload spring, whereas some other aftermarket leafs (like All Pros) do not; they are designed for flex, not load (or overload).

I'm not looking for anything extreme, basically if they handled a bed full of mulch better, I'd be happy. I hauled a load of crushed granite in a 2nd gen which actually overloaded it but I was surprised how well the stock springs handled it. So if these performed a bit better, I'd be happy, I could always add airbags if I wanted an extreme jump, don't think I need that though.

I called and talked to one of the guys at wheelers , and he said that these 5 leafs were about 10-15% stiffer than stock leafs. So they should have a little more capacity but not sure how much.

quite a lot more, by truck used to bottom out over speed bumps with about 450lbs in the bed, now it gets nowhere close.
In fact 2 days after installing the 5 packs I loaded the truck up with waaay too much gravel, not sure how much weight but the bed was about 2/3 full. It was about 1" from the bump stops. No way the stock leafs could have done that.

Glad to hear from someone with them how they ride with weight on them as my truck bottoms out as well jut riding down the interstate with just a few hundred pounds in the back. Sounds like these are defiantly they way to go.

Actually, brings up another point. The Alcans use better steel than the stock crappy ones, which were made in New Mexico, by Steven, if I am not mistaken. So even a stock-height 4-pack replacement should provide more capacity than stock OEM.

Hahaha... Believe me, I want to... I have some overtime coming up in the next two weeks, so it depends on when you guys are ready to place an order, I just can't do it right now, unfortunately. My normal paycheck has to go to other priorities. I'll be keeping a close eye on the GB in case I'm able to jump in.

do it do it do it Mike! :)

I chose the 5pack for pretty much the same reason that you are looking into it, increased load capacity (w/ a lil lift) It's great to hear the above testimonials about how they preform. I do on occasion haul real heavy loads so I'm looking into extended bumps too (mayb airbags down the line)

Hopefully the stars align and you can get in on the GB !!

Excellent... If I end up being able to and there still room for me to jump in I will do it. Just don't count on me as of right now.
