I have a 2003 Xtra Cab 6 Cyl. 4x4 SR5, manual transmission with a matching shell on the bed, 170,000 miles. Much as I love my truck, I am thinking of "downgrading" to something that gets a little better gas mileage. I am having a really hard time gauging what my truck is worth, and don't want to go to a dealership without knowing what would be a reasonable trade-in offer. The Kelley Blue Book values are WAY lower than the N.A.D.A. ones. AutoTrader said something like $6000, but when I search the internet for trucks similar to mine for sale, they are mostly priced at twice as much!

Can anyone tell me what would be a reasonable offer?

You will get more from a private sell. Alot more then a dealership would give you.

A private seller around here would be asking $11K probably, and selling for $8.5 to $9k. That's for glossy paint and no visible rust on the paint/fenders/bumpers.

I have a buddy looking for a green one right now and he's looking to spend $12-$13K for one with around 120,000 miles and a cap. We've looked at some but he hasn't found the exact right one.

ETA: This guy's tryint to sell his for $12K with 120K miles and it's apparently not moving.

i got the same truck, bought a few weeks ago, no rust 240000 kilometers as clean as it gets! he was asking $10 000 and i gave him $8 500. i think its a fair price for a 10 years old pick-up

No one here knows what that means. I assume it's a 50,000 mile truck and you traded the cost of a cheeseburger for it. :D

Being under 200,000 miles you should be able to sell privately for at least $10,000 all day long. I Craigslisted my "99 tacoma ex. cab 4x4, 4 cyl 5 sp with 238,000 miles and sold it for $6,900 within 2 hours. GLWS Mitch

I would love to post a photo, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to post one that doesn't have a URL! Any ideas?

You have to upload it to a site like photobucket or I think there's a gallery here somewhere.

Yeah, it's super hard to understand. Hence the giant green smiley.
