Cleaned out the dog legs. This is the curved area at the bottom of the front fender by the door. Leaves go down from the windshield and collect there. It is covered with rubber and you don't even know it's there rotting and rusting away.[IMG] If you don't clean them out the area will eventually rust thru and you won't even know it till it's too late.

I didn't even know about it. I was helping my brother in law clean up his Tacoma when he showed it 2 me. He said his last Tacoma rusted thru because of this so he tries to keep it clean. It's covered with rubber so you don't even know it's happening. I checked my Tacoma and sure enough it was packed with leaves. Hopefully some people will read this that don't know about it and it will help them out to avoid the problems it causes.

    Was curious about this.

Is there a drain for that area? When I removed my 3rd brake light I noticed a secondary "lip" behind the light that appears that it may serve to channel water that gets past the light and down the rear pillars.

That's what my brother in law called it. I didn't have any idea it existed let alone the correct name. What do you call it ?

Open the drivers door. Go to the bottom of the lower door hinge. Go 4 or 5 inches down from there to the soft rubber molding on the front fender. Pull this out a little and you will find all kinds of debris. Take a shop vac and suck it out. Do the same on the passenger side.

Thanks for posting the pic.:D I like the sign.;) That is it. Ignore at your own peril ! My Tacoma is red too so if I could have posted a pic it would have been exactly what you did. Thanks again. This should make it easy for everyone else. Like "The dog did it...I swear!" under your name.

If you live in a area with trees you will find leaves in the location. I think the only people that would not be effected would be in places like Phoenix or other desert areas where there are no trees. Hope it helps U out. Thanks 4 the rep.;)
