The cake is nothing special. Lynn threw out her round cake tins and hasn't replaced tham so it is just a single layer in a 9X13 pan.

LOL...I think your son is wrong. The terrain is getting steeper. Last summer my BIL (who is a year older than me) cut timber on the exact same piece of ground that we cut about forty years before.

We stopped for lunch and my BIL, who never says much anyway, just looked at the 40% slope we were working on and said..."wasn't this steep last time we were here". I think he was right. :)

75 degrees here in the north land. After and on and off days rain the buds and leaves (as well as the grass) are really popping open. Sunny this afternoon. Managed to get myself motivated an get the boat ready after winters nap. I had a minor repair to make so I didn't start it up. I do have to take it to the local repair shop to have something on the outdrive fixed that I can't handle. If you are of average income and want to own a boat (aka "floating money pit"), you better be at least a half assed good back your mechanic!

    So start one. ;)

Life was a lot different when I was in my 50's. I am really starting to like the 60's although I am worried about my families future more than when I was in my 50's.

Good morning all. Off to the gym this morning and then on to a bicycle shop to look at a few bikes. I hope they have the ones I want to purchase in stock.

    An old farts bike.

    Electra Townie
    Giant Suede DX
    Trek Pure Sport

Finding one to test ride is proving to be a real PITA. I have Arthur in my right foot and spine which is why I am looking at these bikes. All three are a Feet Forward bike. I believe the Trek has the better drivetrain of the three. The Giant is about $80 less and the Electra just has a lot more reviews and sales than the other two.

These are more of a cruiser bike with 21 speeds. You ride in an upright position with your feet 23 degrees out in front of your butt. Almost like a true recumbent bike.

Hey man, got 13 bikes, of all sorts. Build'em, ride'em, mod'em...all that. There are a coupla Electras that have the feet out in front of you where you can put them flat on the ground when stopping and have multiple gearing and such. I have 2 Electras for the neighborhood and love them. One is 7 speed Nexus internal gear coaster brake with generator hub up front and the other is just single speed. The 7 speed is like cruising around in a recliner. I can help ya out with whatever questions you may have about whatever type bike you are looking to get. I saw the post above so know you're aiming towards comfort/cruiser.

morning all: there is another option on making a mountain bike pretty comfortable. my buddy did it.
get higher handlebars, so you ride more upright. but then all the cables for the shifter and brakes must reach.
then, of course, there's the bigger seat!
I think if I were to buy one again I'd take a look at the womans bikes.

    Carl:
That is part of the solution. By extending your legs forward it takes a lot of pressure off your knees and feet. Not ideal for putting more power into the pedal stroke but a lot more comfortable to the knees.

The hardest part is finding bikes to test out. I have two places to go to and another lined up for Wednesday in the afternoon. Wednesday morning the summer tires and wheels go back on the Tacoma. Glad I cleaned them up before placing them in storage last November. ;)

    T@co_Pr3runn3r:
Thank you for the kind offer. I am looking at the 21D Townie in a large. I just keep reading reviews of how much owners like the Townie. Most of the negative reviews are due to the weight and length of the bike. I live in a city that has very few hills and a great bike path system including pedesterian bridges ove two very busy highways.
