    I've never had an issue with lather. Wet brush, wipe it all over your face to wet your face and raise the beard up a little. Add a little more water to the end of the brush, apply soap and furiously build lather on your face. Works every time.

    well that was a blast. it most definately was much more relaxing and enjoyable than anything else ive done! the only iffy part was my chin area haha i was scared to death i was going to chop it off....

    but yea my lather was sub-par to say the least. i think i had it too wet. but it coulda also been that it was the only shaving soap in food-lion and it was cheap as shit.

    but im looking forward to trying again in a few days after building up some more jungle to chop through.

    oh and FYI i was playing Aqueous Transmission while doing all of this sooo the relaxation just QUAD-fucking-DRUPLED

    it felt good, no irritation, just no lather

    Yeah just keep swirling your brush on the soap next time then till you get more. I find it's better to have too much soap versus too much water. Just my personal opinion.

    Some people like to literally add water drop by drop to get the perfect concoction.

    And you might be using a mug to make your lather. Or a scuttle. I dunno. :p

    there is not hollow whatsoever, so its a slim wedge with the frame on the back

    the frame on the back is very soft metal, I dont know what it is though. Neither did the guy that restored it for me.

    The scales on it are actually an acrylic, with a maple burl wedge on them

    I'll shave with it tonight, I haven't had a framback yet, so it should be interesting

    It's pretty gnarly. My only issue would be cleaning it. You have a jar of rubbing alcohol and mineral oil to submerge it in? Works wonders with my razors for cleaning. The soap residue just burns right off.

    until then it is a lot of water and drying it really well.

    The one with the MOP covered tang is coming hopefully sometime this week. This one didn't take as long because of the acrylic, the MOP covered tang is going to have horn scales on it

    New horn

    I was hoping for restored as I have a razor that had good horn on it, but the blade was shot. But it was warped just enough to keep it from working

    So those are getting taken apart, there is a brass (I think) piece on them that I wanted on the new scales.

    I have a razor with ivory scales too, unfortunately the blade is messed up so I cant fix it yet (need a lot more skill).

    And I can't take the scales off that razor without cracking them

    Oh well

    Doh! I'd be pissed. Almost see if you can drill or cut the blade out to save the scales.

    I wonder if with horn as with wood you can steam it to make it pliable and then holding it in place as it dries again to get it straight. Think it might work? I know my horn scales are warped and if you try to close it as is, it'll catch. So you have to gingerly press against the scales while closing the blade.
