Short and sweet...Would you let your father in law borrow your truck to go pick up "shrubs" at BJ's?

    Details:
My father in law wants to borrow my 2012 Tacoma to go pick up shrubs at BJ's (box store) on friday. First of all I think my double cab will be the biggest vehicle he has ever driven. Secondly I doubt he will park away from everyone to avoid door dings. BJ's is notorious for the door ding. Also, I didn't buy a truck to let other people use it because they don't want to buy trucks or pay people to deliver things. I can't help because I will be at the doctor on friday because I just had shoulder surgery and I can't drive or lift anything anyway. My wife says I should just let him use it because he and her mom always watch our daughter. I thought they did it because they wanted to spend time with her and to help us out but I guess it is so I will help them. My wife also used my favorite argument "it's just a truck". If it were a BMW would she say it's just a BMW?

Am I crazy here should I just let go of some control or should I stand my ground and say no? What do you all think? I worry that once I let him do it once it will never end.

I personally wouldnt do it. Its a brand new truck. If he wants to pay for ANY damages that sprout from him using the truck then I say go for it. Happy wife=Happy Life.(Im young for that phrase :p)

Just do it. Whats the worst that could happen? You will quiet your wife and your father-in-law will get the work he needs done. Hopefully all goes well and you have your truck back in your possession by the end of the afternoon/next day.

In the end its up to you though.

I'd love to talk tough and say that I would say no, but I probably would let him. I'm sure that if you express that you like to take good care of your new truck he will get the hint to treat her right... I'm only being half sarcastic with that last sentence!

Yes, I would. That is what insurance is for! He would let me borrow his caddy if I needed it.

I would let my father in law borrow it. He can afford to fix anything he breaks though. I don't know if that's the case with yours. How is that the biggest vehicle he has ever driven? What kind of man is that?

Sorry, but I don't let anyone drive my truck if at all possible. Give him a ride to pickup the bushes.
