Locker

I have a 95 tacoma 4x4 it's the 3.4l extra cab. What would be the best route for getting a locker? And I'm offroad in some form or another every weekend. So yes it's gotten to the point where I need one. And I'm also trying to keep the price down. Help me out guys!

 

lock rite for your rear. cheap. and you will get used to driving around town with it. you will experience faster tire wear

 

How much do those run?

 

Look for a used rear end with an elocker and do an axle swap. If you hunt around for a while you can find one for $400ish.

 

Ehhh i only have 100,000 miles on mine, and I just hit it I'm scared that another axle would be neglected

 

Lock rights gonna be your cheapest. Well actually you could weld the spider gears for free lol. I ran a lock right for years in my reg cab. You just have to get used to street driving. No biggie. I'd save up and do the e locker much better having a selectable IMO. Love it on my DC. So what I'd you get a neglected axle. A couple new seals and your back to brand new

 

ARB is probably the best route. But its pricey.

or you could get a detroit truetrac. 450. buddy had one in the front of his standard cab. He liked it works great except in rock crawling situations. then you can make it work by apply the break. doable with a 5spd but easier if you have an automatic. will be a lot nicer for DD

If its your DD get a selectable locker. It may be more expensive but it will be worth it. As mentioned id say find a good used elocker axle or get an ARB. Can't go wrong with either one.
