Best option for offroad?

Whats the best option for driving in mud, snow with my '11 sport 4x4? Should I mess with the vsc, or just use 4 hi and 4 lo?

 

I dont have a trac button on my truck. Is that only for the offroad model and not the sport, or am I not seeing it?

As above , 4HI for most snow conditions , 4LO can be great for decending snowy slopes

 

When I had a bunch of snow where i live (something quite rare), i went through most of it in 2wd, and i still had to kill traction control to have fun. when the snow got a little deeper, i had to kick it in 4wd. my truck is stock as well. please don't be one of the idiots that thinks because you have 4wd, you can do anything. if people around you are driving slow in the snow, then drive slow with them. 4wd will help you get going, but it won't help you stop, and might cause more harm than good for turning if you break your back end loose.

Obviously you guys have never experienced the redneck culture that thinks 4WD is the end all cure to foul weather. 90% of the vehicles in the ditches here are 4WD, the Billy Bobs don't understand that 4WD is great for traction but really is nothing when it comes to stopping.

There are crappy drivers everywhere , 4WD makes your vehicle more capable in snow than 2WD , there can be no argument about that . If drivers don't drive appropriately for the conditions they can get in trouble , that is no reflection on the vehicle .

 

Agreed, it all falls back on the DB behind the wheel.

 

4WD let's you have better ability to move in a given direction than 2WD. But the road conditions are the same for everything and all automobiles have 4 brakes. It'll go better,but it'll stop as well or as poorly as anything else. Don't overdrive road conditions. That about cover it ?
