actually nfld is the only "have" province East of Saskatchewan, the vast majority of "equalization" goes to quebec.

    ????? Whoa wait seriously??
I thought ontario was still a "have" from all the oil and gas refineries. And the main off shore oil rigs in Nfld opperate outside of the provinces jurisdiction I thought, but still within Canada's water. so they just pay federal taxes.. thats how I remember it being :notsure:

It was San Antonio. It was alright I guess but I didn't get more than a few hours off base while I was there. I like the heat and all, just was too hot for me.

And that thing you speak of is 50+ years old. We still fly it like a normal airplane...

Have you been in 130 degrees with 90% humidity? It's normally 180 in the jet :(. To touch anything you need gloves by that point. Your feet start sweating the moment you touch the tarmac (flightline for you people). I am ready to go back to the rain and 35F in the winter and 80-90 in the summers.

Texas heat is OK. The heat I am describing is in the middle east. That is probably the WORST thing you can ever experience. I think I would rather get kicked in the nuts for an hour straight than work outside there in August again.

"have" means you're a net contributor to the "equalization program" (tax dollars go to Eastern Canada)
"have not" mean you're a net recipient of the "equalization program" (receive tax dollars from Western Canada)

this year the "have not's" will receive $15.4 billion from the "haves"

I love my job though. I really wouldn't trade what I do for anything. I love fixing airplanes and troubleshooting problems. If I could travel around the states though and help other bases fix problems on their planes I would be in heaven. But I need off this jet. I need away from the monotony of this job.

130 and 90 is hell. But you lose all the fat and weight you wanted to lose but can't while home. You don't eat anything because you are so hot. You drink nothing but water and gatorade because you can't function without it. You go home soaked in sweat and hope that your laundry doesn't stink too bad by the time you take it to the cleaners to wash it every 3 days. Oh, and only allowed 3 beers a day :(

Yes, lots of retrofits. They are actually getting ready to start another one. We call each new "retrofit" a Block. Currently we are running block 40. We have different sets of it such as block 40.4 and 40.5. It is just mainly new software for the computers. They are sending jets through our depot (where jets get "retrofitted") for what they call block 45. It incorporates a new autopilot system, navigation system and a new gauge cluster in the center. Maybe I will take pictures of the current system at work tomorrow for you guys.
