Taillight armour?

Anyone check these out yet?

The only pic is a generic one of a Navigator, so I'm wondering if anyone has these on their Taco, or if it's just hyped up BS. Are they better than the typical ABS plastic covers?

No, but I recently had a kid on a bike accidentally break the lens on my rear light...

 

If you had those on there they probably would have bent into your paint from the impact instead. Just like a brush guard....damage multipliers.

brushguards aren't damage multipliers under certain speeds.....then they become damage multipliers for the car you rear end

id say anything under 25 or 30 mph (guestimation)

 

Case by case basis. ive had two friend whose trucks got totaled because the brush guard bent the frame, rather than the bumper taking the impact, as designed.

i've had them for about 3 years. they're actually pretty strong. off road, they'll protect against brush and tree limbs. they won't help you in a rock to tail light situation though, but they would be plenty to protect against a kid on a bike.

mine tore a jetta to shreds and ate it for lunch....then laughed at it and told my truck, here, have a scratch...and that was it

then again, I have a winch brush guard, I don't know if that will make a difference.
