TL projector retro.

This has been done for a year. Picked up a set of TL projectors and a set of the clear replica ZKW lens to make them even better. I used the shrouds from my previous retro and covered it up using abs plastic. This is the 3rd retro I've done on this truck lol each one was better then the previous one in output (E55,TSX, and TL)

www.hidplanet.com is a great site for any info about doing this type of thing. There are several threads on that site of retros done on the older tacomas. I had an 04 that I did a retro on which was a bit easier then my current truck.

 

Are D2S bulbs HIGH/LOW? Or Just low?

 

^^^ I have DS-2 bulbs in my truck and they work with the high/low function. From my understanding though, when using projectors it is the projector itself that controls the high/low function, not the bulb. At least that is the way my retrofit works.

 

You can also check out www.theretrofitsource.com. They have HID retrofitting kits for a pretty good price, or you can check their eBay store. Their forum has some great tips and DIYs.

I probably won't do this to my Taco, but I am certainly going to do it on my Accord.

 

I've bought a few things from that site.

Correct there is a solenoid that moves a shield to produce the high beam pattern.

I used those on my first retro that I did. They are nice for a first time retro. Being that they are open you have to cover them up to contain the light. I used some aluminum foil tape.

Hey rossk35, im a newb at Retro, but im going to try my first one on a set of spare lights, i am deciding what projectors to use. i have the morimoto setup with the d2s bulbs. im thinking about getting fx-rs but i keep seeing TL projectors and was wondering the difference between them. thank you. also if there is a huge different process for mounting them
