So after pulling teeth and breaking arms I finally got Tim at glassworks to make these rear bumper caps and fill in the uglyness.

These parts are extremely rare and nobody ever buys or seems to need them. How exactly do you attach these? I'm thinking drill holes and screw them in, but maybe there is that ONE guy out there that has actually done this before and can give some feedback. Check it out...

He had those on the shelf when I went in there. AllPro has a different style too. I keep meaning to put a set on mine, but can't get around to it. Now if someone would just make something similar for the front.

AllPro may have made them at one point, but when I called recently they had no idea what I was talking about. I made it clear what I was looking for and they didn't have it.

What do you mean similar to the front? Pretty much all the major fiberglass companies make a front bumper cap to go with their fenders.

Hey nice bike, I basically have the same thing, DRZ-400E :D
That's what makes this a little more difficult as nobody has it. So I tried drilling some holes but it got sketch as some of the fiber started cracking. I called up Perry from McNeil racing (talk about an interesting old racer with some crazy history) and met him up at his 'office/house' where the neighbors had 100 goats grazing the hill, I couldn't help but lol as I drove up and was immediately greeted by various dogs, llamas and cats. Anyway, looks like he'll help me out but he doesn't know exactly how we're going to get them in there.

Stay tuned friends, I'll figure this out...

IIRC Camburg did fiberglass bumper fill-ins on the Russia vehicle but they were on the front. Maybe get a hold of them or look through their Russia Build

Those and a roll pan for the center would seem to be something the lowered truck fans would be after to eliminate the rr bumper.

I know right? I went through Kartek and had their manager call Timothy who finally got around to making them. What's interesting is that when I called back in January he said "they're laying on my shelf!" Then when Kartek calls he say's, "Don't have them, it'll take me 3 days to build." wtf? So the Kartek guy drives down to pick up my REAR bumper caps and Timy gives him fresh made FRONT caps. Eventually Kartek got them and now their here... seriously though Kartek was awesome for their persistence.
    Their made by Glassworks.
    Glassworks

If you can't get them through Tim, call through these guys.
    Kartek

How much? $150.00 for the set not including shipping.

I found out that Mike at Defined has installed a couple so I just PM'd him.

Now, who is this guy? Google'd him...

You have to glass in two bolts on the backside of each the cap. The bolts will then go through the two open holes that you can see in your pic above. Probably best thing to do is to line the caps up, and using a couple of sticks you can tape to the back of the caps, you can get the spacing and angle down properly, then replace the sticks with the bolts.

I can take one of mine off and show you what I mean if you want.

    ^Rob thanks for the input!

Those look great btw on your truck.

I drilled some holes and screwed them in, then took it to Perry at McNeil racing who is going to reinforce with glass. They seem to stay pretty good by just drilling holes and tightening. I used the existing holes and also made some additional ones just to keep it solid... I'm getting them back tomorrow color matched.

stay tuned for pics! Perry should have the parts back from TJ tomorrow...:rjallday:<---- I just saw this... WTF?? RJ how did this become famous?? lol!

talk about an interesting old racer (Perry) and fabricator. You know he started McNeil racing through a successful KFC franchise business back in the day. He owned 20 stores in Tijuana! Got out of that and started his own KFC called Kountry Chicken with the same KFC font and colors. Apparently all the mexicans couldn't tell the difference so KFC shut him down due to privacy and infringement laws, lol. His bread and butter are the Raptor conversion kits for everything from a Fockus to an F-350.
