Glad I could help. JPG is almost a pet peeve of mine. Only time they're any good is at 100%, and any time you upload a photo online, the servers compress the photo to save space. You're like, HEY GUYS check my photo out... wow what the heck happened, its ugly! Facebook is the best example.

Nice shot btw. I like the tones. Kinda seems misframed but I like it!

    Cool stuff, guys.

I am into Wildlife, Nature, and Airshows. I have been playing around with digital backs since the Canon 2000 SLR body came out. Everyone said back then digital was just a fad.

Here are some of my favorite airshow pics from the past few seasons.

A while back, I caught the last F-14 Tomcact airshow before its retirement.

Another Tomcat. I always enjoyed seeing the F-14 at airshows. It is mean, loud, and fast.

    Moon Shot. Navy F-18 Superhornet.

Smoked. USAF F-15 Eagle on full afterburner doing a high-speed pass at show center, right under the speed of sound. Interesting story about this one. One of the aterburners actually locked open on this F-15 and the pilot performed a vertical climb in order to stay under the sound barrier and not blow out every airdrum within 1/2 a mile. He just dissapeared and we thought it was odd until we later found out what happened.

And, no show would be completed without the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds:

Here is a picture that Goose took at a recent T.W. meet in Pismo.
Maybe I think it is good because its my truck. lol

**But I did have a serious question for you experts. I am looking to get a Photography camera to do high speed shots like that of trucks jumping, motocross, speed boats and desert racing. So it will always be shots of objects at high speeds.
I just do this on the side for fun and have a budget of around $1,000. ( I know the more $$ you spend the better obviously)
So with the budget I have, let me know what you guys recommend. I have seen some beautiful work on this thread. I know you guys know whats up!
    thanks!

That is a sweet shot. I wish I found this thread earlier. Lots of nice photos here.

As far as your question about gear, more expensive is not always best when it comes to the camera. You can easily overspend when you don't need to. Canon or Nikon make afforable(relatively) SLR bodies. Olympus and Sony do as well but you don't have near the selection of stock and thrid-market lenses as you do with these two. If you are looking for long-term potential, I would stck with these two brands, for this reason.

The Canon Rebel is priced nicely and would be fine. Unless you are shooting for the NFL where every potential shot might matter, you don't need 16 frames a second on the pricier $6,000 bodies. You also don't need the more advanced feature sets present on the pro bodies unless you really will be doing studio work.

Beware, however and take warning. ** Danger ** It is not the camera you will start to fret over. It is the lenses. Just as with mods on this forum, it starts taking hold of your thoughts and you begin to salivate over the fast, sharper-grade lenses and what you can buy next to up the Ante. It becomes an obsession, just like modding your truck. You will find it is damaging to your credit line if you don't keep this in check.

You will discover quickly that the lens is more important than the camera body in most cases and for most people. Given that, don't spend a lot of money on the camera body. In fact, look for used models if you can. Save the money for the glass. You will later want to go with prime lenses for their sharpness, but I would start with a fairly fast zoom lens until you figure out where you really want to go and what peaks your itnerest. Based on that excellant photo in the truck, and assuming that is the type of shot you are after, I would go with something like a 24-70mm or 70-200 zoom, assuming the body you get has a 1.6 focal length multipler. If you want more power, something like a 100-400. Also, you say you want to do action shots, but you may find your interest peaks elsewhere, so starting with a modest zoom like the 24-70 might be a good starting point. A lot of people just start out with massive zoom lenses and wish they had something wider. For the type of shot in that photo, you don't want or need a lot of power. With the large sensor sizes today, you can also crop your images down. You can also find lenses on the used market for decent prices, especially when the new models come out.

    Thanks!!
That is really useful information as I do my research on what route to take. That makes a lot of sense too. Another experienced photographer told me the similar thing about lenses

That looks good Pandajerk. What would it look like though if the 'the memories' part was a little lower so that the horizon was above that part instead of going through the top.

Otherwise, I like it a lot, good job

    thank you!

I appreciate the feedback, the reason why its like that though is, the text as a whole is directly in the center of the photograph.

I like this. The way the text is placed works with relation to the words-the whole photo matches the text so yeah, it's cool ;)
