The extra pins on the switch are for illumination and possibly some unused pins.
The relay itself is electrically compatible with the Tacoma system, but I don't know if the pins will plug in properly in the fuse box.

    Ahh!

    Parts site is back up:
    Fog switch:
    http://www.toyotapartsales.com/part...=CLUSTER & SWITCHES&component=Fog lamp switch
    $41.44

    Relay:
    http://www.toyotapartsales.com/part...ELECTRICAL&subgroup=FOG LAMPS&component=RELAY
    $19.93

And just for shits and giggles:
    http://www.toyotapartsales.com/part...teid=214074&vehicleid=1441489&diagram=8512030
The actual lamp assembly is about $340 for the pair.

Ya, the way to tell is to look in the fuse/relay box where the Fog relay goes. If you see electrical connectors in the pin holes, then look under the bumper and you will likely see the harness bundled up against the body.

If the holes in the relay box are empty, then you'll need to run your own harness. You can still use the factory switch so it'll look nice, but it'll be a bit more work... and I'd suggest running the FJ Cruiser switch which has dual-illumination. It has the normal illuminated text/pictogram like the Taco switch, but it also has a "slot" light that comes on with the fogs (if wired properly, see attachment)

If you grab the right wires for the backlighting, the switch will dim with the dash.

That is a completely different kit and won't "plug and play" in the bumper openings... it'll take some fabrication.

    Look for seller "trendgear"
These literally snap right in... no tools needed to mount the housings:

I got my first 4x4 in 1972...haven't been without one! I still like Chrome!
    My 08 SR5 2door was not prewired.
I bought just the lights on ebay, got the switch and plug at a junk yard.
Put my relay in a box I mounted under the hood.
Cruise stem came from a junk yard too, $10, lucky I have one close.

Well. I think i will have to order off of this site. I just called my local Toyota dealership and they quoted me $87 for the switch and $120 for the relay....

The links aren't opening properly... but select your model and year, and then you want to go under:
BODY HARDWARE - INSTRUMENT PANEL - CLUSTER - SWITCHES - Fog lamp switch
ELECTRICAL - CHASSIS ELECTRICAL - FOG LAMPS - RELAY

A little off topic but I'm sure will help the OP. I'm trying to install fog lights right now and was hoping someone knew how to put in the OEM fog light switch in the oem location (top right). I can not get my hand up there, whats the trick for removing the blank and running the wires?

Removing the blank is easy. Drill a hole in the blank and grab it with an o-ring pick.

Accessing the area above the fuse box is a pain, but with the blank out of the way you should be able to snake a length of stiff wire (INSULATED!) through the hole and out to an area near the firewall that you can work with.

Snake the wire, then tie on a length of dental floss and pull that back through the dash.

New problem, I need a wire harness for the Tacoma oem fog light switch. I have the switch, but not the wire harness that plugs into it! I drove to Toyota dealership, kragen, and radio shack and I am 0/3.

I'd hate to spend $70 when all i need is the 4 wire harness. I guess this project gets delayed until tomorrow.

I hear ya, but if your SR5 is not pre-wired then you're stuck.

Are you sure you're not pre-wired? The connectors for the switches are normally taped up behind the openings in the dash. If you see female spade connectors in the relay panel under the hood, I'd bet you $10 that your harness is where it needs to be behind the dash.

Double check the opening closest to the door (top left)... I've seen diagrams of the dash that show the fog switch in either left or right.

So the Fog light switch is the top row very left closest to the door?

I've seen diagrams that show both.

I'd pop out all 3 of the plugs (pull one without worrying about the finish, then poke a finger in to pop the others out from behind) and see if you can see the harness back there.

The cheapest I could find the wiring harness (plastic plug and wire are separate part numbers!) was for $25 on ebay. If you have V6 you may be in luck, but this is becoming an annoying project for this 4cyl guy. I'll take some pictures if it all works out when I receive the part, thanks for everyone's help so far.

    Update:

I just finished installing my fog lights and they look awesome. My truck was fully pre-wired for fogs. It had the relay and fuse already under the hood, wires were tucked up inside the front bumper, and the empty blank in the dash had the harness inside it.

I kind of wish I didn't buy a full fog light kit off ebay. All I used were the fog light housing - the harness, relay, fuse, and switch were all garbage. Oh well.

Total cost of project was just about $200 ($100 fog switch from the dealership..)

Once I figure out how to post pictures on here from my iPhone folder I will post a couple.

Thanks everyone for the help and advise.
