    That one is a bit above my grade :D. I will get back to you in about... 30 minutes to work it out. I gotta go back through all my books. I don't usually deal with hp on a motor or leading power.

    I work with 115vac, 3 phase motors connected to jet engines. I know they operate at 8k RPMs at 400hz. Usually run around 110kVa

    That looks exactly like one of my power engineering equations for my 3rd class.

    I have zero idea how to do that.. well, not zero, i know enough to attempt it, probably 75% chance i'd get it wrong though

    Ok, again my algebra and solving for (x) sucks anymore. But the equation I ended up coming up with was

    250hp= .9 (600v) (I)/746

    horrible answers I came up with were either...

    .72 or 180.

    I don't think either of which is right? :notsure:

    Did I atleast have the right formula? Or do I need to go back to my drawing board for them? I work on aircraft generators and systems. I guess it is a bit more simple than home electronics which is alright with me. I don't want to be an electrician after retirement.

    Damn, back to the drawing board. The whole formula or just bits of it? I thought you determined amps in a circuit like that by using the

    HP = motor efficiency (volts) (amps) / watts. And watts is 746 watts to 1 HP if I am not mistaken?

    1 HP = 746W

    P = I x V x square root of 3 x Pf

    250 x 746w = 186.5 Kw

    186.5 Kw / 90% = 207.22 Kw

    I = P / (V x square root of 3 x Pf)

    I = 249.25A

    Got it I think this time. 431?

    I = 250 x 746
    ____________
    600 x .9 x .8
    ???

    Damn... forgot about the 3 phase part... I should have added that into it somewhere. I knew I had the right (ish) formula.
