11 codes on the first scan....

I have a 1998 Tacoma 4X4 3.4 with a TRD supercharger. I have owned the truck since 2000. It has 187K on it. It was running fine until yesterday. It would idle rough, but once I pressed the gas pedal it would accelerate easily. The check engine light came on shortly thereafter. I scanned it and 11 codes were given. PO300, PO301, PO302, PO303, PO304, PO305, PO306, PO171, PO171P, PO130, PO133. I replaced the spark plugs and wires about 8 months ago. After searching these forums and getting a game plan I will clean the MAF first, then a fuel filter, and O2 sensor. When looking for vacuum leaks can I use the small green bottles of propane?? And on the PO130 it says bank 1 sensor 1, is that the one in front of the cat?? Thanks for any assistance....

You sir have a bane of the DIY mechanics world. It's an electrical issue if your getting all of these suddenly at once. I'd bet my tattoo'd tushy a bad/rust/corroded grounding wire somewhere. Clean up all your grounds, even if they look fine. I've seen even slight discolouration of the metals cause issues.

Thanks so much. Just to clarify the PO171 it was a PO171 and PO171P. Which I have no idea what a PO171P is, I couldn't find it in the book....

I've never heard of a P0171P before?? Let me try some more digging

 

Well, luckily, the P0171P code is barely ever mentioned in all of online. Another guy running a Z28 had this issue, turned out to be a low fuel pressure issue. Suggestions were he might have had an Iced up fuel line, and to use fuel de-icer. Depending on you climate, might be an issue but I doubt it. Get your fuel pressure checked.

His issue ended up being a slightly cracked fuel pump, had to be replaced.
