Whats up Tacoma World folks? This is my truck (work in progress). So....I just got my rims on the other day and found out that it still tucks under the fender. My tire size are 285/75/16s.

As you can see, I want my wheels popping out. Should I go ahead and get WHEEL SPACERS or what should I do to get rid of this problem. And if I were to get wheel spacers......how many inches? Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

my advise is to worry about function over form

That said measure how far it would take to get your WHEELS flush with your fender then get wheel spacers that wide.

You do realize your going to have to trim more and cause more rubbing with the spacers added don't you?

If you want them to stick out put on some wheel spacers, I'd recommend spidertrax. With that being said you will probably have to do some minor fender trimming which really isn't a big deal at all. There's also the possibility of a cab mount chop If it rubs there as well.

Not sure what you mean by 'popping out', whether you want them out further, or want them more noticeable. I like the look as it sits, the lift and different wheels are 'popped out' enough for my taste. Looks great to me. :proposetoast:

Function over form man, I learned that the hard way when my 285s on a wheel with 4.5" bs and spidertrax spacers nearly killed my tires when i bottomed out offroading. Fenders slashed chunks of tire and got bent as well, not to mention the horrid rubbing everywhere.

Thnks glwood. I wanted a "further out look" like you mention, but I guess it looks cool just this way. I guess Im gonna have to get wider rims next time to get that further out look.....lol.

Those wheel were not a good choice if you wanted something that would stick out. With 7.5" width and 4.5" bs they only stick out 1" more than stock sport wheels.

You should have gotten a 9" wide wheel with 4.5" bs if you wanted that look. Or maybe a 16x8 w/ 4.0 bs. But that will have more rubbing than the combo you have.

Well if it goes far enough then he can just chop the whole cab mount off.

OP, i would go with 1.25 Spidertrax if you want to keep those rims. if not, go for 9" wide and 4.5" bs.
