How do you tighten the cranks on a MB? They wobble and squeak when I pedal

take off the pedals at the bottom bracket. Then, depending on what bike you have, there may be any of a few different styles of fastening for the internals of the bottom bracket. tighten depending on what you find in there.

My temporary bike I got is a Mongoose Detour MB. Its stock.

I might keep it and just mod it.... or wait until I get a job and get a REAL bike

Oh yeah. Something about the warm weather is making me build endless shit. Just did somethings to my dads truck for him even though he didn't ask me too. I gotta be working on something at all times.

X2 on working on something all the time. When I get bored I find something, take it apart and put it back together over and over again.

What did you do? I was about to do the Fog Mod today but missed my chance

don't ride the bike with loose cranks. You can easily damage the cranks and the bottom bracket.

This was one of those things I was hoping wouldn't come up until the tune up. You can bring it in to a shop and hope they're nice, or you can use an 8mm Allen wrench. You'll need a long one. Tighten the snot out of it, but do not let it slip/strip.

As a previous poster mentioned, there is no need to remove the cranks. Just tighten them up.

Thats exactly what I did. Tightened the snot out of them but yet they still wobble and squeak (more like a muffled squeak)

a squeak is OK. Some just do that. You can also take off your pedals, grease the threads and reinstall the pedals.

    http://www.expertvillage.com/video/4849_remove-pedals-bicycle.htm

Sometimes removing the cranks, greasing the bottom bracket spindle, and correctly torquing the cranks back on will help. There is also the possibility that you rode too long with them loose and they began to wear out on the mating surfaces.
